If the isles trades for, and I don’t think they will, Eichel. Lou would be trading Nelson and not Pageau.

I don't want any part of that Pageau contract. Especially considering what you're giving up for him.

Just put Byron on LTIR. No need to give up a 2nd to dump him. He’ll be out 5 months.

Detroit have no use for Byron. His contract is for two years, it'll cost you a 2nd per year to dump him. You're better of finding another solution.

historically a 2nd would get it done.

Gost makes more, at 2 years, and probably a worse player and only got a second. Get outta here with that

Ghost is a usable player to Detroit and we would have made that deal (at that time) becase we needed LD. Detroit have no use for wingers.

What makes the difference is what use the player has to the team taking him on.

Useful player = lower cost, useless player = higher cost.

Id much rather spend a couple picks and a prospect on a guy who makes less then 3 mil and no longer then 3 years if they are older then 28. Lots of 3c options that don't strap the cap space we have

no team is going to trade that. the closest center to those requirements is kerfoot. pageau is way better than kerfoot. good luck with that.

Thats your opinion... here's another opinion:

Detroit had the worst PK in 2019-20 and were bottom 10 last season as well. Byron is a veteran penalty killer... so he kinda does meet your teams needs a bit... and he is a cap dump so you get a useful veteran and a pick for the future.

It's all a pointless argument because Byron is going on LTIR where he will accumulate cap space for MTL as the season goes on... he's a leader in MTL. He scored some huge goals in playoffs, without him MTL doesn't it make it to the finals... but go off on how he isn't good enough for Detroit even with a pick as compensation.

If Habs need cap space just buyout Byron's contract. It will cost around 550K on the cap. Not a big deal. He has no trade value right now.
