The man The myth The legend

Created by: Islesforthecup
Team: 2021-22 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 16, 2021
Published: Aug. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kaprizov can't come to terms with Minnesota. From everything I've seen on this site, if Minny is trading Kaprizov they'd want futures to rebuild. More could be added if needed (Wilde, Holmstrom).

Minnesota is really, really good. They're like us from 18-19. I doubt they want futures

I would probably accept that deal, but I wonder if there would be an additional small throw-in for the retention.

Josi - Fabbro
Farrance - Myers
Bolduc - Carrier

that's a pretty solid, young d-core

Lou might be the only one to convince KK to take $7M per year.

Like I said that's all that I've seen. But if they would want win now pieces I wouldn't be interested. It wouldn't make sense to blow up the whole team for him.

Its literally the Barzal deal. Not sure why that's a crazy contract.

I based it off some conversations I saw you had lmao. In terms of retention I guess someone like Golyshev if you want but it is only 1×1.875. You're not going to get a lot for that.

They could be good but if KK situation doesn’t go the way they want it to I could see them going into a mini rebuild. They don’t have anybody to replace somebody of that caliber and they won’t be able to afford any big time FAs with those massive buyout years coming up. They could get a massive haul on a retained sign and trade deal for KK and come out of the buyout years stacked.

If the Wild want futures for Kap, they would want either picks from bottom-feeders or elite prospects. Selling Kaprizov would send them to a full rebuild and a couple of contender-firsts would not cut it.

With covid seasons and down revenue, that's still nearly $2m -- Poile has also never retained salary in any trade in his career (pretty sure).

I think this is a cup favorite. Considering the last 2 years and the moves we made this offseason. Dermott>Greene Kaprizov>Eberle Ekholm>Leddy. All we did is upgrade, and considering Tampa is worse i think we would have a really good chance to win.

So I'll throw in Golyshev or a 4th/5th round pick.

What team has the assets, the cap space, and the want to go get Kaprizov? Obviously every team wants him but which team is gonna want to pay the price for him? The only teams that have those assets are revilers and they're not moving those assets. 2 1sts, Raty, and koivula is a solid offer for Kaprizov IMO. Then you have to take into account if they are trading him it's bc both sides refuse to give in so they lose leverage in trade talks because of that.

I don't see a retained sign and trade happening (even if they can't come to an agreement) but if it would, that would certainly drive the price up both because of value and because more teams would be involved as they could fit him into the cap.

The Wild don't have any need to trade him so if nobody wants to pay the price, they'll just keep him. This is different than, let's say, the Eichel situation. Two picks probably not even in the top25 and a 2nd-round prospect will get outbidded instantly in the market. (Koivula isn't good, he is 22 years old. He played in Finland where I'm from and I got to see his play a lot. He didn't look like a future full-time NHLer.)

There is nothing extraordinary coming back to the Wild. Your 1st round picks are late ones and Räty is a fine prospect. Considering we are giving you an extraordinary asset in Kaprizov, that offer is not enough.

The Islanders don't have the pieces to make a good Kaprizov deal.

I keep seeing this bellows for Dermott trade. I just don’t understand why Toronto wants to trade an nhl Dman for a non nhl forward.
