Unfortunately even with the salary retained I don't think that's enough to take on kassians contract for Detroit

The value isn't bad but I don't think Yzerman takes on a player he doesn't need for 3 seasons.

It's certainly good value but beauvillier brings so much to a team that's trying to win that futures don't. If we were to make a beauvillier deal with Edmonton I'd want Yamamoto, and Foegele + picks/prospects. We need things that will help us win now.

??? That's good value IMO. A 2nd and a 3rd for 6.6 million of an overpaid but still useful player. If you want you can recoup some assets by trading him with 50% retention. Kassian @1.1 has some decent value and will bring back a solid return.

Pretty fair trade - not sure if Isles would do it tho bc they probably want him for this cup window they’re in and he’s the best player at least in the short term.

True but I have no interest in doing that. Beauvillier is a homegrown kidwho does everything above average, and I mean everything. Hes San elite skater and his hockey IQ is of the charts. Hes not someone that you can replace therefore I'd want those 2 plus picks and then maybe I'd be interested.

Thats an overpay for Beau. Yamamoto is two years younger and only had 7 less points last year and you're adding a 1st PLUS a decent prospect. Edmonton is better off just to keep the youth and let them grow into the depth pieces they need other then trading multiple pieces to fill one hole

He would be taking a roster spot from a player we would rather be developing, also then trading him and retaining more salary means that we waste another retention slot for the next 3 years or less. We got Givani Smith that fills the same role and he's alot cheaper and younger. Erne also throws the body around a bit so yeah just not needed. Maybe a different team would be interested unless the compensation is really good. Even two seconds is a tough sell but take that fourth going back away and I would be hard pressed to say no honestly.

Maybe Arizona who actually has no bodies and would probably be interested in this. But you're right destroys on the back half of the rebuild while they would need a team just starting (Arizona, buffalo, maybe Nashville)

Yeah that's more of my point here. I think Detroit in particular would then have to move a body out, that would likely have to be Erne and I would prefer Erne over kassian.

With the two 2nds and nothing going back I'd say yes. I'd have no problems with waiving Kassian and sending him to GR if Berggren or Raymond needs the spot.

Yeah the two seconds kind of had me going as well as long as we don't send a fourth back.

This is the first Kassian dump to Detroit that makes sense to me. I'd take that from the Wings perspective.

I wouldn't trade Yamamoto for Beauvillier 1-for-1 let alone adding two more high end assets. This is completely insane.
