By ideal you mean a center that has declined steeply over the last couple seasons and that was not very good last year for 3 players, a 1rst, a 2nd and a 3rd?

for 1 player and two question marks yes Mysak still has a way to go, and no guarantee Harris is going to sign i thnk he may just wait and go to free agency. For sure risk with Monahan given his recent play but a change of scenery may spark a change, package of picks is the main piece going back and its for sure an overpay but given the situation montreal is in i highly doubt any team if gonna make a deal with them at fair value. Habs will most likely have to pay a bit extra for whomever they go after, and it seems to be down to Dvorak or Monahan, i would personally prefer Monahan.

If we have to overpay, I'd rather stand pat, unless it's someone that comes without serious question marks.
Monahan doesn't qualify for an overpay (neither does Dvorak).
I'd rather take a dozen low cost gambles and exhaust all our options first.

Poehling, Turris, Bozak, Zambhoni Driver PTO, Youppi. I don't care, just don't give up that much for one of those players.

I actually think Faksa could fit well, not in the same role though

Nothing, it’s just that Calgary isn’t gonna trade Monahan unless it’s in a package deal for Eichel

Monahan is the 15th highest scoring center in the league since entering the nhl. Only one center on Montreal has more goals then Monahan in either of the last 2 seasons.. lol he would easily be Montreal best center

Dvorak is criminally underrated in this league, he'd fit well in MTL, he's similarly to Danault defensively, but has much better scoring capabilities on a great contract.

I have no doubt he'd produce more outside Arizona, but the price seems to be on the high end for someone who hasn't hit 50 points. Nothing wrong with a 20/20 range player that's good defensively, just not at the prices that are being speculated.

It's always entertaining to see two posts like this side-by-side.

the thing is they are both somewhat wrong.

Chabotrrorr clearly doesnt watch the flames play. Monahan has declined in temrs of points but he has improved defenisvely and he has played through som pretty tough injuries the past two seasons. a healthy monahan is worth a lot more than the offer above. one big thing is i dont think flames are trading monahan for futures if he gets traded it will be for roster players who can help the team now.

Cjets is kinda right in that the above trade doesn't meet what the flames are looking for and wouldn't make sense for the flames in their current position with no replacements at any position coming back but there is certainly some interest from the flames in trading monahan and a package like the above would be a start but remove some of the prospects and picks and send over a roster player.

Now i could see the flames doing this trade if it was part of a three-way to get Eichel but that would require buffalos input on whether or not they value some of the prospects included in the trade above.

I mean how do you define declined? I tend to think that when you are injured its a pretty good excuse for a fall off in production. See Eichel or EP40 last year, neither of them came close to 56 points (season length for PPG)

He doesn't get playing time with offensive players, so that goes against him. Also, it's Arizona, so that goes against him as well, Keller is their best offensive player, and Dvorak only sees PP time with him.
