He's worth way more than that, especially if he agrees to an extension

Unless the Sharks are actively trying to get worse, this is a bad deal.

Name one instance of a comparable rental (no, guys traded around the draft do not count, we’re into rental mode at this point in the year) getting two firsts. Just one.

This is an overpay. He’s a first round pick + a small kicker kinda guy.

I'd say Hall, but Hertl is much better right now then Hall when he was traded to Arizon. Hertl is also a 1C and centers are naturally worth more then wingers. To even enter the running, you have to start with a 1st and either a second 1st or a 1st round equivalent.

Hall had an MVP under his belt, and 6 50+ Point seasons under his belt (hertl has 1). No comparison. No comparison.

Is this a troll AGM? We may be in a bad spot, but we're not THAT stupid to make this Hertl trade. The 1st round pick makes sense, but DeBrusk's playstyle doesn't fit with the Sharks and his contract shouldn't be that much. You should add more draft picks or top prospects to the mix first, then we can talk.
