Mikheyev is probably better than Zucker at this point, at least close enough to where it's not worth the cap hit or assets

I’d rather the guy who can finish plays rather than a fast skater with none

Ypu mean the guy with 2 more goals last season playing with malkin and crosby instead of kerfoot on the 3rd line with no pp time?

At least we know he’s had it at some point, Mikheyev hasn’t proved anything. If the leafs had Zucker he’s locked top 6, if we keep Mikheyev he’s battling for a 4th line role. Don’t tell me u believe that Bunting and Ritchie are going to put this team over the top

Had it and lost it. You're banking on an older, twice as expensive even after retention player magically recapturing their prime vs a guy who is as good as him who still may get better. And on top of that giving up assets.
If Mikheyev is battling for a 4th line spot in the leafs, so is zucker

$100k in cap with a 20 man roster means Leafs cant call-up a player if someone is out day to day.

Leafs can't take on more cap.

Clearly you don’t watch pens games lol. Mikheyev played like 15 more games than Zucker and Zucker only played a handful of games last year with Malkin before Zucker got hurt. When Zucker came back then Malkin go hurt and was out for the rest of the year minus like 1-2 games until the post season. He played mostly with McCann/Carter. And that line was 🔥. Geno also brought pretty much every player he played with down until like 5-10 games before he got hurt cause he came into the season grossly outta shape. Zucker with Crosby the year before had 12 points in 15 games. He’d easily be a top 6 on Toronto. Probably play on the first line with Matthews and Marner.
But don’t worry, pens easily decline this. Mikheyev isn’t a top 6 and we have plenty of bottom 6 that are just as good, if not better than Mikheyev.

You were probably disappointed when your fav line Mikheyev-Engvall-Simmonds was garbage in the playoffs

I don't really know you plus I'm a Leafs fan so my issues with the team was losing Hyman, his replacement(s) and the Kampf signing. What are you're opinion on these then I'll debate you

My opinion on these is that zucker is a poor replacement for hyman and isnt good enough to warrant spending more cap and assets over Mikheyev, who is about as good as he is for less than half th4 cost

Yeah he really is. If Mikheyev was actually worth something, then the leafs would have gotten something for him. He is an average at best bottom 6 and wouldn’t even crack the pens top 12. Zucker is an actual top 6 winger that brings leadership qualities and never takes a shift off. But continue to troll. This is why the leafs fans who are actually decent on here rarely post anymore cause they get crap because of the trolling ones

What a weird direction to take that in. So no, zucker os washed and expensive and has no value. Mikheyev is younger, cheaper and better. The leafs havent traded him for that reason.

lol what's your fascination with Mikheyev? I get that the team shouldn't spend more and they're at the cap ceiling but Mikheyev isn't better than Zucker. He's younger but that's about it.

He's part of the trade? That's just called staying on topic, not a fascination.
And i dunno if you're actually reading the responses, but he's also cheaper, as ive said many times (even when the oens retain half of zuckers deal).
Also, zuckers slightly better scoring results come with significantly better linemates, sheltered zone starts and power play time.
So, you can have a cheaper player who produces similarly for less than half as much while starting 65% of the time in his own zone, with worse players and no power play time or you can waste cap space and assets to not get any better

No, he spent like 4 games at the start of the season with them.
He spent the rest of the year with engvall, kerfoot and simmonds with zach hyman a bit at the end

No Zucker isn’t. Zucker is better and Mikheyev is a dime a dozen bottom 6 player that no one would give up assets for. Even the non-troll leaf fans say so.

https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/players/ilya-mikheyev

And your “Mikheyev played bottom 6 with lesser players and no PP time” statement is nonsense. So like I said, troll.

I am, and if you do wanna talk about last season, he only played the first part of the season, like 15ish games with those two and then the last 20ish games before his injury with engvall, kerfoot and Simmonds again
