There it is, a reasonable Hertl deal.

Las Vegas and Washington are poor trade partners for big-ticket players because both are near the cap ceiling. The Golden Knights have to make cap-negative deals, but Smith's and McNabb's combined cap hit is $7.5 million and Kuznetsov and van Riemsdyk aggregate $8.75 million. Other than that, this is a well-conceived deal.

The other two proposed trades are really well-visioned.

One of the very, very few and it comes from the team formerly known as Sharks East.

Sadly, Washington would never do this

this is a deal the sharks would do! and the idea of Ovechkin and Hertl together would make Washington scary!

I don't think I do the McMichael hertl deal as McMichael seems reasonably close the NHL so he could be helping Washington and cheap to very soon. If he was a little further away sure.

True and the next contract is going to be closer to 7.5 or more as well.

This makes zero sense for Washington as they would be way over the Cap after the $6.5 million extension for Hertl. So unless they trade for Smith and McNabb and then let them walk in free agency the money just wouldn't work. Then you want to trade Hagelin who is a key penalty killer and fixture on the 4th line to immediately healthy scratch the player you traded him for? On top of all of that you no longer have McMichael who is cheap and under team control and you want Sprong to play on the 4th line? No Way. Just Brutal. And you haven't even considered what Samsonov would make because it won't be $2 million.
