Replace Weber with future considerations, and NSH's 1st with Ben Harpur, and NSH accepts.

Tyler Toffoli turns 30 in April and would have two years left on his contract, which expires right when Anaheim will be starting to contend. Jacob Perreault turns 20 in April and would be under team control for at least 7 more years, the next two of which would cost $6.5 million less than Toffoli. Right there, I doubt that the Ducks would be interested, but the idea that we would "throw in" a kid we think will be an NHL defenseman is just silly.

As much as I like Bergeron, 3 years is a lot for an aging player, plus he will retire a Bruin. Clutter in MTL, that makes me laugh because I know him extremely well. He was in my summer camps, I know his parents and the entire family were huge Habs fans prior to him playing for other teams.

i think his version is a lot more likely than yours. I think he is estimating weber might retire and nsh pays to avoid that and the massive cap recapture penalty they will face

I know that's every MTL fan's pipe dream, but it just doesn't seem realistic. Why would Weber retire and give up the remaining money owed on his contract? He's too hurt to play and staying on LTIR compensates him fully, without penalizing either of his former teams.

If Weber retires, Nashville is on the hook for recapture penalties whether he is Canadian or Predator. Why do folks think Nashville wants to give up a first also?

he is owed 6,3,1,1,1 mil, if montreal wants it off the books and they are offering him a job as a scout as reported. He could retire and montreal is left with a cap recapture of less than 1 mil/ year. If they trade his contract to nash they could ask him to stay on LTIR so they avoid the 4.9mil through 2026 on webber to add to the already 2mil they have on turris. 6.9 mil is a lot of dead cap

Weber doesn't need to retire, if he wants a scouting job. Chris Pronger had front office jobs with the Flyers and the Dept. of Player Safety, while still being under contract as a player.

Sorry, that logic doesn't fly. Teams can't just asked players to go on LTIR. Either he is medically fit/unfit...and it is determined by the league eventually.

If he on LTIR....either in Montreal or Nashville, there no recapture penalty, so no reason for Nashville to obtain Weber
If he retires....and not for medical reasons, Nashville is on hook for recapture penalties whether he retires as a Hab or Nashville.
