Yeah I wouldn’t give up Wahlstrom, Boeser isn’t much better than Wahlstrom right now. I think I’d condider Raty , Bolduc and a 1st

We’re talking about benning though… lol

If Podkolzin can continue to adjust & grow this deal has potential. The TDL will determine much. Dobson would get the chat going.

Isles should not be trading these assets for a forward. Their 4 lines are solid and need to get a LD.

Benning doesn’t have the leverage to get one of Dobson/Wahlstrom in a trade considering Boeser is a year from UFA - IMO if benning decides to trade Boeser it will be similar to the Sam Reinhart trade

This trade would be completed in the offseason. The isles will trade for a rental LD and Salo will be in a full time role next season, Devon Toews 2.0

Boeser would be an incredible fit, but between trade value and roster maneuvering, I can't see him coming to the Islanders. He'd be amazing with Barzal, though.

He’s not a year from RFA. He’s an RFA at the end of the season. He’s here to stay. Remember, Benning sucks at UFA signings, he’s been pretty good with trades

What Lou did last offseason was more difficult than what it would take to acquire Boeser + roster maneuvering. It’s very doable if Benning continues to be a complete moron

Boeser will be an RFA with arb rights. He’s a year away from UFA

It is a overpay. That is 6 very good assets for a player that is not needed. Wahlstrom looks to be just as good a Boeser and will be the 1RW. Bolduc is going to be ready as soon as next year and Raty is the Nelson replacement. This is not a good trade for the Isles.

Whalstrom first 9 games: 0-0-0
Boeser first 9: 4-1-5

Whalstrom Rookie: 23-17-50 (pro rated)
Boeser Rookie: 39-35-74 (pro rated)

Whalstom sophomore: not really worth pro rating because so early in the season
Boeser sophomore: 31-36-67 (pro rated) coming off a nasty back injury

But sure by all means Whalstrom>=Boeser.

I can care less what Wahlstrom did in his first 9 games lol. That’s just confirmation bias on your part. I never said Wahlstrom is better than Boeser, i said that Boeser isn’t much better than Wahlstrom right now, which is a a fact. This is going by pts per 60 and underlying metrics.

Who cares about first 9 games, that is always a tryout for most prospects.
Wahlstrom is 5 goals in 8 games in his sophomore season, isles don't care about his first 9 games.

He wants to bring up first nine games but doesn’t want bring up the start of this season (8 games) . Wouldn’t fit the narrative

I bring up the first 9 because it is a common metric to judge rookies. Fine if you want to discount it.

Look at their rookie seasons then. Boesers was miles better. I made an adding error in Wahlstroms but he was actually pacing for 40 points... Boeser was pacing for 40 goals.

Wahlstroms off to a hot start, but there's no way he carries a 51G, 0A pace throughout the whole season.

For P60 stats an 8 game sample size is hardly enough. To illustrate this, per money puck Doughty has a higher pp60 than MacKinnon, as does Max Domi, Brett Leason is higher than Ovi, Luke Schenn is higher than Petterson. None of these will stay the same over the course of a season.

Since when is it a common metric to judge rookies…Barzal was awful in his first 9 games in the NHL.

Boeser did have a better rookie season than Wahlstrom. That’s not my point. Last season Boeser was only slightly better than Wahlstrom and so far Wahlstrom is off to a better start. You’re right he will not score 51 goals this season. Sooner than later he will be on Barzals rw and he’ll likely finish the season with 30 goals 20-25 assists. Wahlstroms scoring is sustainable because he’s among the leagues elite in shot generation + ISCF/60.

Wahlstrom just turned 21, is on the 2nd year of his ELC and cost controlled for the next 5 years. It’s very likely he’ll be just as a good as boeser which is why the isles wouldn’t trade Wahlstrom straight up for Boeser.

I guess we will find out. On the flip side, I don't think the Canucks would deal Boeser straight up for Wahlstrom so I don't really see a deal there.
