Asking a lot for Jt Miller. Oilers pass can’t counter offer that it would be very disrespectful considering how far apart the two sides are.

you are kidding right? Miller allows you to play drai 1st line always with mcdavid and jesse and then 2nd line hopkins, miller, hyman that's 2 elite lines or miller with mcdavid and jesse, drai with hyman, hopkins

I disagree. you don't know Ken Holland. He knows he needs to win one soon or he's going to be out of a job soon.

If I’m a contender , I’m trading a 3rd line player , a B- prospect and a 1st for a PPG player any day of the week

no kidding and just think miller is ppg with garland and podkolzin imagine what he would do with any pair of mcdavid, drai, jesse, nuge, hyman where almost all of them are also producing at a ppg rate

Considering the Leafs traded a 1st for Foligno , imagine they somehow got JT Miller with some retention next to Matthews lol

People are discrediting what JT has done on a garbage Canucks team... now I understand what Sens fans must've been feeling watching all the lowballs during the offseason lol

ya it's crazy to think about. i wonder if toronto felt stupid giving a 1st for foligno when boston got hall for a 2nd and bjork. imagine if toronto made that trade instead hall- matthews- marner would have been easily a top 3 line last year alongside bruins 1st line and colorado's

It's not so much about the trade value as organizational need. The Oilers top 6 produces just fine, the biggest weaknesses on the team are the bottom 6 production and defense. This trade would trade 2 of the pieces I'd want to keep in the bottom 6 for either Miller to play on the 3rd line with no help or demote Yamamoto to a 3rd line with no help while spending your first to limit your assets to trade for defensive help.

Long story short, your top 6 gets marginally better while your bottom 6 gets worse and you have less assets to fix the D. If you're going big, go for Hampus Lindholm.

guys, you're forgetting something very important here. The Oilers want to avoid being too top heavy. There needs to be balance in the lineup else we're going to go back to having depth issues all over again.

Foegel - 2.75M - cheap, effective, under team control for 2 more seasons after this one
McLeod - RFA - will be cheap, is starting to be effective, under team control for the foreseeable future
1st round pick - should be used on 'NEEDS', not 'WANTS'. If Miller were either a LHD or a goalie, this flies

Miller is a very good player, but not one the Oilers need currently or in the future, nor would he stay nor would we want him to stay.

For these reasons, this is an easy 'No'. Never said the player was crap, never said the trade was garbage. Just not the trade the Oilers need to make.

Hyman-McDavid-JP
Nuge-Drai-Yam
Foeg-McLeod-Kass

the top 9 is a lock, they have chemistry, they work well. The main areas of concern remain 2nd/3rd pair LHD and Goaltending.

miller is a huge upgrade over yammamoto lol. for someone who plays with hopkins and drai he is massively underproducing. as for your third line. yammamoto- turris/ ryan- kassian is a more then good enough 3rd line maybe the decrease in ice time would spark a fire up yammamoto's a** to actually start doing something

And then what? You've taken 2/3 of the Oilers 3rd line... leaving them with a 4th line for a 3rd line and then AHLers to play 4th line.

I'd probably rather have Horvat: cheaper to acquire, plays center more and is better defensively. As with Boston, some cap would have to go back. Edmonton doesn't really have a $3M+ player they want to dump like DeBrusk though... Kassian would be the closest fit.

i understand it's difficult for non-Oiler fans to see, but the RNH-Drai-Yam line when they do fire on all cylinders was one of the most productive and dominant non-McDavid lines we've ever seen, however short-lived it was. That's why there was such an outcry when Tipp didnt go back to it for the play-ins and until recently.

Not to mention Drai really likes playing alongside Yam.

They'll be fine.
