Fiala Futures - read desc

Created by: MNCountryClub
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 23, 2021
Published: Nov. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I realize not all of these packages are equal in value and some teams may not have interest. I’m just trying to get some boundaries established, for my own understanding, around lower end and higher end returns for Fiala with the focus being a futures package.

I’m aware that the prevailing opinion is that the wild need a C back, but the purpose of this is to gauge futures value, not argue over what MIN should or shouldn’t be doing.

Do Veleno, Mukhamadullin, and Turcotte really have the same trade value?

rangers cannot give up chytil in any trade that does not bring back a center. I think kravtsov and a first is much more likely

This is exactly why I put “read description” in the title.

Not a fit for Detroit. We need a center more than a winger and ideally, a right handed one at that. The value is fine, just don't like the fit.

Sabres could be interested, maybe. It could be good to send a couple assets for one players since we have an over abundance of top 6 and potential top 6 talent. Maybe something like Ryan Johnson, and the 2022 2nd, maybe Florida's first?

Roger that. Saw a Det proposal for Boeser, which is where the idea came from. Wasn’t sure on their needs personally.

I was about to say this as much as I like Fiala. Would be possible if we made another trade for a more established centre, but not much room for more wingers in Detroit.

I wondered about Buffalo, but wasn’t sure if there was any appetite there. I think if Fiala agreed to a long term deal, there could potentially be a fit.

The framework of your deal is good. We have a surplus of LD, so Johnson probably isn’t preferred but that’s me being nitpicky, especially with the other pieces you mentioned. Anyway the framework is a good idea, and it could be workshopped.

You should look at Reinhart as a basis. 1st and a decent prospect.

Same situation. He can go to arbitration and then walk to UFA

Why are we trading assets for an arbitration eligible player who is 1 year from UFA?

It's not even 20 games into the rebuild.

It makes no sense for us. He can take his arbitration award and then walk to UFA in a year.

We should be building with the assets we got for ristolainen, eichel and Reinhart, not selling them

I get aiming high but I do not see Fiala netting any of these returns.

Yeah that’s pretty much the basis I tried to use here. But just turned the dials up or down depending on who the prospect was or where the pick is projected to be.

Why not? His numbers align with the ask. I also don’t consider all of these packages equal.

Expiring deal, inconsistent performances, clearly has ego issues. I wouldn't pay a 1st alone for Fiala.

I have a question.

If Minnesota were to trade Fiala, would you be happy with something like what Minnesota got from the Jason Zucker trade with Pittsburgh?

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/jason-zucker

I know Zucker and Fiala are not the same player.

I'm just curious.

Generally, I think this is right idea. Wish we saw more of these on here.
Not all of these packages would be ranked similarly by each team.

For my own personal tastes, I'd do the first two for sure.

1. LAK (Turcotte)
2. WAS (Lapierre)

3. OTT (Greig, Brannstrom)
4. NJD (Mukhamadullin)
5. NYR (Chytil)
6. DET (Veleno)

Yes, that would be the ideal framework. Fiala is a much, much better player than Zucker ever was, so I'd prefer it be a bit better return, but Fiala has less team control too, so it's a crapshoot. But 1st+good prospect should be the basis.

I think that’s fine if that’s your opinion, but I don’t think that objectively represents the market. Nothing you said besides the expiring deal holds much water for me from a valuation standpoint.

Close to mine as well. I had NJD and OTT flip flopped, but that’s mostly because I had visions of a Kaprizov-Khustnutdinov-Mukhamadullin line about 4 years from now. The play by play announcing of that alone would be fun.

Oh. In that case we'll throw in Sharangovich, Vukojevic and Okhotiuk

Obviously trade would have to come with a extension, play him across from Ollofson on the top line for 2/3 years while our core grows. It's more of a retool than rebuild IMO, no team goes into rebuild mode when they have a top 3 core under 23.

As a Sens fan, that would be an easy package to say yes to. The hope is Greig becomes only half of what Fiala is, and Brännström's upside is debateable.

That being said, Reinhart just went for a 1st + Levi, and so Greig + Brännström + a 3rd is a little bit too much.
