Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2021
Published: Nov. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Montreal gets a prospect who's a bit of a reclamation project at this point but is still young. The Jets pay a lot for a bottom 6 forward but he's a RFA and Montreal also needs to retain 50% this year or the Jets can't get under the cap since they're using LTIR.

Provides the Jets with insurance in the event that Copp walks in free agency as well.

It's interesting. Lehkonen was outstanding during last year's run to the finals: while he is labeled as a bottom 6 guy, he is exactly what every team needs come playoff time. For precisely that reason (and that he's only 26 and an RFA under team control), it'll be tough for the Canadiens to move him. However, this might actually entice them to do it. smile

Reclamation project is thrown around here a bit too often yeah still quite young and progressing well, about as planned too given he went 24th o/a

Yea maybe not the right term, but right now he's stuck either playing 6 minutes a night on the 4th line with the Jets or going down to the AHL. There doesn't seem to be a path for him to get higher up the lineup

Why hasn't Scheifele been scoring this year? His point totals are disappointing so far. Is it fair to say that the offence is driven by Connor more than anyone else?

Since Bergevin isn’t there to protect Lehky, Gorton might do it if an offer like that was presented too him

Connor and Dubois yes. Dubois has slowed down a bit because he was rocking a ridiculous shooting percentage early, but he's still driving.

Scheifele had asymptomatic covid but he still missed a chunk of time quarantining and I wonder if that's effected him. He looks slow this year

I'd much rather the Jets hang onto the guy with higher upside. Lehkonen is a run of the mill 4th liner. He's not worth giving up anything of value for.

While I like Lehkonen and think he could moderately help this team I'm not sure a tweak or two is going to be enough for this team, a bigger shakeup might be required.
