Regardless of what happened when he was being shopped by Buffalo, the Jets can’t afford and no longer need Ristolainen.
While I think we need more right handers and if we could upgrade our RD, I’d be all over it, but I don’t see Risto as an upgrade over what we have. So Jets say no thanks.
Now if you’re moving Konecny, then we can definitely talk about him… but it would require some cap movement on Winnipegs part.
Depends on what the agreement with Copp is though… can’t afford him and Konecny with the other needed extensions coming up.

if the leafs are going to give up a 2nd they'll be able to find something much better than Martin Jones to spend it on. 5 good games this season didnt suddenly make him not awful

I don't think you're getting enough out of the Oilers in the Konecny+Provorov deal and if the Oilers must give up a third for Braun I'd appreciate Brassard getting tossed in their for a Siikanen-type prospect of the Oilers'.

You'd have to take cap back on the Jets would have to send some elsewhere and looking at who they have making more then a million it just doesn't look like any guys they'd want to ship out under any circumstances so I can't see them doing this, honestly I doubt they add much to their lineup, think they're going with want they've got, really don't think they're should trade their 1st either.

Definitely not getting enough out of the Oilers. Also have no idea how the Oilers could fit it under the cap this year

This year, next year, any year. Don't get me wrong you add those two to the Oilers and they probably reach the finals for the next decade but yeah it's absolutely beyond every sense of the word realistic. The Oilers would need to sell on Kassian and Yamamoto just to get Konecny to fit. Fitting Provorov probably requires Keith shot at sunrise.

Yeah, I'm trying to fit it in an AGM and it's almost impossible. Especially considering Keith's NMC and desire to play in Western Canada (all teams are tight on cap)

Time will tell. What I can tell you is that you're not getting a rental as good as Giroux without giving up a significant return. But his value will depend on if he's willing to waive his NMC and if so, how many teams will be on his list? Because if he's available i'd imagine every contender that can fit in half of his cap hit will be making the phone call to the Flyers.

At least years deadline guys like Nick Foligno and David Savard got first round picks. Giroux's return as a rental will be significant if multiple teams can bid.

Avs wouldnt involve Newhook in Dubios talks last year, they wouldnt involve him in eichel talks, and since then he has shown he is a legit NHL player as a rookie being on a 50 point pace.
You arent getting him for a rental. plain and simple

Fair enough. I do think the Flyers will get a similar package though. A good young player, a late first and a conditional pick that's no worse than a 3rd or something along those lines. Maybe the Avs/Newhook aren't the best match if they consider him untouchable.

I tihnk you are going ot be very hard pressed to find any team who would be willing to move a newhook type player. Giroux is a 34 year old rental. Look at how much grinding it took buffalo to get Krebs into the eichel deal, that is an elite young C signed long term and they still had troubles getting that type of young player.

1st and a prospect, sure, but not that level
