Ritchie is definitely a hard move right now, especially at 2.5mil. The 2nd and 4th for Brassard and Braun are good, but I think it would require a better prospect than SDA for them to move both, take ritchie and retain. They do much better moving them individually.

Each team only gets 3 retentions, so Im not sure PHI or DET want to retain for such little value.

Mrazek is a liability both health and performance - and is ~4Mx2 more years. Campbell has been good, but he’s not a #1 for a long term.

I mean Mrazek is a good goalie he is just hurt right now - you should know how good he is as a Canes fan. Campbell just needs to be hot one year to win a cup - but he has won most of Toronto fans over and deserves a long term contract for his play over the last 2.5 years.

Yeah, exactly right…I know, so do the Flyers and Red Wing fans. He will draw you in, then the moment you need him (playoffs as an example) he will be out. There is a reason he’s not in Carolina any longer. Great dude, just not reliable.

same can be said for fred, not the injuries but when hes needed most in the big game, theres always 1-2 backbreaking goals

That’s the beauty…we will see. I didn’t post something like this about the Canes nor say I think the Canes goalies are better this year. Has been the case so far…long way to go.

The base for my comment is pretty easy, he’s 30 years old, played 7 seasons in the NHL but has only just this season passed the 100 games started threshold. He’s very hot or cold (see the last two games he started for the Leafs).

My point is a combo of Campbell/Mrazek is asking for trouble in the playoffs.

Detroit only have two retention slots and they need them for their own players. We have five players on expiring contracts that may have to be traded at the deadline and Yzerman isn't going to squander a good return on players like Leddy or Fabbri or Greiss or Namestnikov just because they can't retain salary.

If you want to use one of the only two retention slots Detroit have then you'll have to offer much more than a B- prospect.

This has nothing to do with cap or money. It has everything to do with the three retention limit.

Detroit has no intrest in Hållander. Since Detroit is already using one of their retention slots it will be at least a 3rd for the retention on Letang.

Do the Hurricanes goalies have anything to do with this post? Did I say anything about them not being a problem?
