Two ahl players is a great way to make your team worse. Grittier for sure! But worse

They have three lines that can play. They just need some bigger bodies come playoff time when they're getting pushed around.

Watson is a good pickup. He fights for his teammates, and is a shot blocker. His teammates love him. Ottawa might not retain though, since it has another season left after this one. They like Watson, and would just keep him.

I mean, Ottawa paid a 4th to get Watson without retention. I doubt Dorion would be interested in retaining if it only brought a 5th back…

Ottawa is not retaining on Watson over a 5th round pick.

Try again.

Just traded to the Hawks couple of days ago. CHI should accept this move.

Good idea OP, Watson would be a pretty good soldier for the Avs, solid 4th liner who plays with heart and grit. He won't hurt you as he plays "safe hockey", can even score some goals as he has a decent shot

One of the very few Dorion trades/signings that didn't blow up in his face.

When I said the other day that your hockey knowledge level was low, it really shows in several threads.

Hard to beat that "Connor Brown is overpaid" but you should just sit back and learn a bit

Edit : I actually had the wrong quote

my goodness, such a powerful reaction to someone pointing out an AHL player is an AHL player. Look dude, just because you like a guy who isnt an NHL player doesnt mean you have to get all insulting when someone points out that he isnt good.

lol this is insulting? I'm calling out your hockey knowledge which based on your comment the other day about Connor Brown being overpaid at 3.6 AAV, isn't very high. I have actually never seen anyone saying that this contract wasn't a steal or at least good

This is not insulting because if we were on a drawing forum, you could call out my skill which is non-existent as all of my kids are already better that I have ever been lol

I am not a Watson fan whatsoever, but I am a fan of being exact and/or fair. Watson has aready played 352 NHL games with an average of 12:00 per game. Most of these games were with Nashville, who was a contender. He played 45 playoffs games for them, averaging even more ice-time (13:27 per) and even scored 10 goals for them.

He also was a 18th OA pick, meaning there was initially more upside projected for him. He missed a lot of games these last few years because he's pretty much always banged up but when he plays, he plays with heart and grit and is pretty safe in his own zone. He's actually pretty much only used as a defensive forward. A honest hard working 4th liner.

it's incredibly telling how you talk about not being insulting and then proceed to throw out more insults. You're real wound over an ahl player you claim to not like.

I literally just explained you WHY it's not insulting and yet you say that I threw more? lol

I have EVERY RIGHT to call out your takes, you are on a hockey forum giving up your opinions so yes they are absolutely subject to CRITICISM. I have not been personal whatsoever so please grow up.

Just by calling me "dude", you've been more insulting that I have been lol

And since you haven't gotten it yet, this is not about a "wound over an ahl player you claim to not like.". As I said, I like things to be fair and exact, not garbage opinions without substance, but don't you understand that my calling out of your "hockey knowledge" is still based on your Connor Brown take? I mean, it's pretty obvious, isn't?

You're not going to get anywhere with that guy, he is closed minded and refuses to even consider that he's wrong on anything. We all have opinions that might be off a bit, and a well worded counter argument can alter our opinion. When we stop listening and only speak, our opinions become worthless. I had to put the guy on ignore, so I only see his comments when others quote him.

Brown received that $3.6MM contract after putting up 43 points in 71 games, which is a 50 point pace. Considering Brown had just had seasons of 36, 28, and 29, Ottawa had a pretty good negotiation position. That contract is a steal now, since his second season in Ottawa was 35 points in 56 games, a 51 point pace, and he has 13 points in 21 games this season, a 51 point pace.

Add in that he doesn't miss games unless the league makes him miss games.

16/17 82 games played
17/18 82 games played
18/19 82 games played
19/20 71 of 71 games played
20/21 56 of 56 games played
21/22 21 of 25 games played

Brown played in every team game for 5 years, not missing a single game until having to sit out 4 games this season because of Covid-19 protocol.

Brown is a true 200 foot player that plays in every game situation, that scores at a 50 point pace, and is resilient enough that he's never been injured in 6 NHL seasons. These are traits that would get any other 27 year old forward a contract well above $5MM per season.

Yeah, Connor Brown is worth $3.6MM AAV, $4MM in salary this season.

Good to know, keep in mind that I'm still a bit "new" on this forum, I don't know which posters have some weird behaviors

And regarding Brown, what is impressive is that he does all that at ES/PK and mainly deployed in the defensive zone (his dZS% vs oZS% ratio is about 65/35)

I don't know if you have seen my Connor Brown FACTS before? It's pretty telling
