Harsh but necessary

Description
Have tried to be fair with the trades, but understand they're still ambitious. Have also tried to be realistic with regard to Rutherford's own trading style.

These trades have been made on the proviso that:

The Canucks do NOT make the 2021/22 playoffs.
The Bruins & Rangers DO make the 2021/22 playoffs.
The Canucks are then in a position to bring in Filip Forsberg in the offseason.

I'm also fairly certain we could get a 1st rounder for Motte at the deadline instead of two 2nds, but have tried to be a little bit more realistic.

Take your biased glasses off for a second. You have heavily overvalued your players for VAN.

Myers is on one of the worst contracts in the league for another 2 years. Why would NSH give up a top 4 dman AND A 2ND, for a 5 mill 3rd pairing dman on the decline? Lose cap space, the better player and they can't resign Forsberg. Makes 0 sense.

Sorry, but that might be the worst Fabbro deal I've seen on this site. Myers is a cap dump, but somehow NSH is giving up a young top 4 defenseman + 2nd rounder for him... Not a chance. With this framework, VAN would probably need to add a couple of 1sts going back to NSH.

Fair enough. The 2nd in return was simply for the $1mil retained salary (which was the same as the Canucks paid the Yotes for OEL).
However, as this is rightly a cap dump I have edited the trade accordingly.

Preds and NYR decline easily.

While Boston really needs a guy like JT. Can’t see them going 4 out of 5 years without a 1st. They have to find a way to add to this team without giving 1sts. The cupboard is already bare enough due to bad drafting and trading away 1sts.

The Kings have Doughty, Roy, Durzi, and Walker on the right. With several prospects (Clarke, Grans) on the way why would they want or need 4 years of poolman?

Very true, perhaps I had overestimated the Kings desire to part with Määttä.

We don’t necessarily want Maata, but until they have a better LD than Wolanin, they have to keep Maata as their 7th.

That’s still not enough for NSH. I don’t see any team taking on Myers and actually giving back anything of value. That’s closer to the value of just dumping Myers (probably still need some retention and maybe upgrade the 4th) — still need the value for including Fabbro. Teams aren’t just taking on $6m, multi-year contract cap dumps for nothing.

That Tyler Motte trade is pretty special. I thought I must have missed where he suddenly became really good, but apparently not...

I know right....you could probably have Motte for a late round pick.
