Edmundson absolutely doesn't get a 1st, and I don't see how Allen or Lehkonen get 2nds, they are serviceable players, but no other team is giving the benefit of the doubt to really any of the Habs players with how the team has played this season

I think Lehkonen would be a nice fit in Minny tbh

Edmundson makes Chiarot look like Doormat, if Chiarot can return a 1st Edmundson absolutely gets a 1st + 3rd + B/C prospect (slightly better return than Savard last season). Allen is on a 2 year contract for 2.875 Mil in reality he could be getting 3.25-3.5 Mil and be an excellent 1B although I am not sure the Pens are the right team. Lehkonen is a solid middle 6 forward who still has 2 years of team control after this one and steps his game up in the playoffs. He will definitely return a 2nd especially if we retain.

Didn't Armstrong try to re-sign Hoffman in the off-season?

Quoting: Ledge_And_Dairy
Is he buried? He is 23, waiver exempt, and not playing any games on the main roster. This is not at all similar to someone like Thomas Hickey. He's been a point per game since being sent down too.

Your argument is kinda flawed too, are you trying to say Valimaki isn't worth much? In that case why would Montreal want him over the 2nd?

Yes, he is buried but no longer on an ELC, I feel that is saying something

The Penguins have ZERO cap space.

Will they next off-season?

Minnesota has zero room at all or need considering duhaime and bjustad or duhaime and rem are Minnesota 4th line back and fourth and Greenway with foligno, Matt boldy is getting called up to pair with Fiala and look like Rossi is getting called up alsp

Still think there is room for Lehkonen

Okay then, but as for Lehkonen, I see him as more of a bottom six forward than a middle six, he doesn't have enough offense to be considered a middle six guy

He hasn’t played very well and he’s not worth his money the blues shave lots of people to resign and not a lot of money

Some really bad takes on this site about prospects/young players who haven't yet reached their potential.

We are less than 5 months removed from "Kylington is worthless since we could have had him for free last year"

Nope. They have a lot of tough decisions to make unfortunately. Plus, they have a young goalie ready to break in.

Obviously Allen would play behind Jarry, and Pittsburgh doesn't have to re-sign all of their guys, maybe you just want them to

Still not a good look that he got signed to more than league minimum and still needs time to develop in the minors

I don't think middle six guys should be held back from their scoring ability, so I see that as an issue with the Habs system then

Whatever, buried or still developing, either way, I don't like that Treliving gave Valimaki a contract worth well over league minimum and he's not a mainstay in the flames lineup, to me that is a careless mistake

The guy missed an entire year to a knee injury and he's only one year into his ELC ffs, most guys ELCS are higher then league minimum.

No he isn't, this is Valimaki's second contract, 2yrs x 1.55M, what are you talking about? ELC's can have performance bonuses, but that's about it

He got outperformed by Kylington, if you saw that coming then you should be gambling in Vegas. Valimaki has been better than Zadorov this season IMO but thats the coaches decision there. Valimaki is more effective getting 1st pair time in the minors than he is sitting in the pressbox on the main roster

Sorry you're right, he's still waiver exempt which is why I thought he was still on his ELC, regardless he missed an entire season, takes time for a guy to get on track from missing that much time.

I understand where Allen's place would be and I'd be fine with that, but this has nothing to do with what I want. the Pens have the current priorities:

1) Malkin
2) Letang
3) Rust
4) Kapenen
5) Rodrigues
6) Heinen

They likely can't keep all of them and will have to find a way to move Zucker just to make the space to keep SOME. Just because YOU want this trade to work doesn't mean it's close to the priority of the Pens.

Okay, that's fair, thanks for explaining it clearly, now I understand. I guess next season he'll take Zadorov's spot if he still can't bump Kylington down the depth chart, and no, I don't think anybody saw that coming

You don’t need to trade everyone this year lol. For example, if petry only brings a 4th and a 5th, I’d rather hold on to him and hope he bounces back next year which I think he will. This is not the year to evaluate players in Montreal and JP’s value is not what it could be, although I don’t think it’s as low as you illustrate here. He doesn’t go from being a monster with lots of value to basically no value in 30 games….

I know I know, I guess I'm just kind of pessimistic about their upcoming off-season, since a lot of people want them to let go of Rodriguez, maybe Rust wants too much money and term, and there is a fair bit of uncertainty surrounding Malkin and Letang's futures right now. Could see both Kapanen and Heinen getting traded

There are just too many "what ifs" going on with the Pens and while I would like to see them upgrade their back-up position, it's very unlikely even if they wanted to that they'd be able to spend $2M+ on a back-up.

He has the ability to put up 15-20 goals a year but since the Habs have always played defense first he gets bumped down the lineup. When he does play middle 6 his production goes up.

Exactly and more than half those games he was playing injured according to reports
