Thoughts on long term implications, no resign for Klingberg let him walk at end of the year, still a good move? I forgot to include that aspect.

good move for Vancouver, while Myers is playing good right now he has been bad in the past and could go back to that so getting an amazing rental for what could be a cap dump seems unrealistic.

It would likely be one of the best trades of the decade, so yes It would be good for the Canucks.
IRL you'd need to pay an extraordinary amount just to lose Myers, let alone bring in Klinger, so this hypothetical leaves you sitting pretty.

We would be left with one good PK defenseman after this deal.

if Klingberg leaves at FA then we just freed up 6 million to address the defensive needs

Take what you saved in this trade (at least a 1st and prospect) and address that in a different trade.

Klingberg is better than myers but id argue they need a guy like Myers more than a guy like klingberg

With the way Myers is playing, teams would definitely have to pay to get him out of Vancouver if there was interest

That's a good point

If Dallas were bold enough to even consider selling that low on Klingberg of course

So who do you spend that cap space on instead if not Klinger or Myers beyond this season?

Hamonic is still a useful piece for sure, we just forget about him cause he hasn't played much recently due to injury

Bottom line is, if Dallas is offering Klingberg for such a low price, Vancouver definitely wouldn't be able to say no without giving it some real serious consideration, considering the fact it could make their blueline a bit more lopsided. Although I suppose Klinger could play with Ekman-Larsson, literally taking Myers' spot and be well insulated

I'd pursue Manson or Colin Miller

When did Myers start playing well? Lol. Not being rude just honestly surprised as I haven’t paid much attention to Vancouver this year

He's been wildly inconsistent throughout his time here. One great game followed by two meh ones and two games with horrible mistakes. But this year he has been mostly great and under Boudreau he's been a top-3 defenseman.

Yeah, I’ve always liked him and been kinda disappointed with him at the same time lol. He has a good set of skills just never really seemed to click. Good for him

Yeah, he was rather inconsistent over his first couple of seasons in Vancouver, but he's been a lot more consistent since Boudreau, quite the revelation honestly. Us Canucks fans are nothing short of pleased by it
