Whats his cost

Created by: Bias4bruins

Description
What’s girards cost? I know it’s extremely unlikely trade but I think I remember the avs entertained trading him to free up cap, and they are deep at D. Debrusk would be a good addition for playoff depth and might sign at a reduced cost for a good young team next year. Clifton is a cost controlled bottom pair guy and the 2 picks. Could be way off, what would it take? Maybe Fredric for some toughness? Added Kane because even though I know it’s unpopular I think the bruins should risk it before this core is done. This team looks decent.

At this point, if they trade him, it feels like an off-season deal. I don't see a deal happening this season.

Hall is the only one who would be a target from BOS

They arent going to move Girard to downgrade their roster and get picks. There would have to be a good player in return. Marchand and Pasta obviously wouldnt be moved and the only other guy on offense with decent term and high enough value is Hall, but he has an NMC anyway

A young top 6 forward locked up multiple years on team friendly deal. Futures, draft picks, reclamation projects not welcome. Think Teravinen or Beauvelier, other wise it has to be something they would be foolish to say no to. The above package has zero interest in a Girard move.

What reports? It better be something more significant than what we’ve all seen, which is that Holland has spoken with Kane’s agent.

Any report they were considering moving him for cap space is misinformation. Fake news as the kids say these days. The only time they might have contemplated trading him was when they were thinking about Eichel.

As for the trade, I wouldn't mind DeBrusk in Colorado, but it would have to be a different (smaller) trade. Girard may get moved in a year or two, but he's too important at the moment.

Edit: Oops, didn't mean to quote a prior comment. Fixing that.

Here’s the article mentioning it:

According to former NHL referee Tim Peel, Evander Kane is expected to sign a new contract in the coming hours, and that deal will be with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers were a team many linked Kane to the minute his deal with the San Jose Sharks was terminated, given their lack of offensive depth behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. While nothing is official, if he does indeed sign a deal in Edmonton, it would likely be a one-year contract with a relatively cheap dollar value.

While the Oilers certainly appear to be the frontrunner here, TSN's Darren Dreger also said earlier today that the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning are also pursuing the 30-year-old winger. It sounds like a decision will be made today. Whoever does indeed win the sweepstakes will certainly be a more talented team on paper, but they will have to hope Kane isn't a distraction, something he has been known to be in the past.

I’m just still weirded out by this situation since Kane will be filing a grievance

I know. I would not think he could sign until that is settled.

Only interest I'd have in trading with Boston if I were Joe is if it was Carlo coming back the other way, and Boston would be adding too. Can't see that happening.
