Actual pipe dream value. Chiarot isn't going to get a 2nd at this point. Been utterly terrible this year. Talking heads mentioned a 1st to get fans riled up but he's been terrible. Just terrible. Not worth picking up at this point.

Want Matthew Knies? Too bad, he's an untouchable prospect. Most the Leafs would give up for Chiarot is a 3rd

"Actual value for Habs players". The only one close to accurate is the last trade....Pacquette for a 7th.

According to what? Matthew Knies as an untouchable prospect and will be the first grown power forward in a long time. He's doing well and is a first round talent chosen in the 2nd round. Right now, the Leafs top two prospects that won't be traded, Niemela and Knies

The isles pick will be in the 7-11 range, they definitely aren’t trading their 1st for Tyler Toffoli.

As my friend @palhal says, the only accurate evaluation is the last one. Toronto wouldn't trade either of those two elements for Chiarot, Calgary wouldn't trade Pelletier or their first for that package, and how in the world is a bottom-pairing LD like Brett Kulak getting more than a fifth?

If Kulak gets you a 3rd, Dermott will get the Leafs a first

I find that I have done pretty good in life so far but damn, I wish it was as easy as it is for the OP.

Didnt say Kulak was worth a 3rd, but if the leafs are trying to bring in a dman with a 3rd round, then that gets them Kulak from the habs. Habs most likely wont be making a deal with the leafs regardless and Chiarot will be dealt shortly hopefully so soon you will have proof he in fact fetches a first because there are multiple teams looking to add a defensemen that logged 23+ plus minutes during a cup finals run and will come in at a cap hit of 1.75mil if retained.

Right now the Islanders are ahead of 11 teams in percentage, and the only team I see possibly overtaking them is Detroit, while they have a good chance of catching other teams ahead of them, so I'll go with the OP that the pick will be in the 12 - 16 range. But your point is well taken and absolutely correct: NY won't be trading that pick, wherever it is, for TT.

Chariot is fifth on the Canadiens in average ice time now that Montreal has added Kale Clague, who Los Angeles let go on waivers but is averaging more ToI than Chariot.

The isles have to play something like 50 games in the next 99 games. Trotz won’t scratch Chara or Greene, things are going get much worse from here. Wouldn’t be surprised if they go on a long losing streak soon.

Yall gotta realize that player values are not based on how you view them as players but how the demand market is currently at. Thats how Chychrun is being valued like Eichel. There is a greater demand than supply for defencemen right now. Chiarot is dog****, believe me, but hes worth a 1st rounder ++ for desperate teams in need of defensive reinforcement. Its gonna be a bidding war for all of our UFAs and theyll get more in return then their value entails.

ya that would be a great argument if that was remotely close to being true. on the year Chiarot leads the team in TOI/GP and Clague has not play more minutes in a game than chiarot in any game except for the ones Chiarot missed.

I bolded what I was talking about. Who said the most the Leafs will give is a 3rd? Chiarot will get a 1st + and it has been reported that Toronto is interested.. put 2+2 together.

Hah! You're absolutely right. I dug up those stats for a discussion of Alex Romanov, who was being touted as "untouchable," and my memory failed me again. I apologize, and thank you for the correction!

Lol fair it can happen when you dive into these discussions.

I think Romanov is untouchable in the minds of habs fans because he is one of the few bright spots this season and it is very entertaining watching him throw open ice hits. Its mainly based on sentimental value, in reality he is a 2nd pair dman who does a little bit of everything but isnt the number 1 anchor some people seem to want crown him as.

My gut says values (using only picks)

Chiarot - late 1st, early 2nd
Toffoli - 2nd + 3rd
Kulak - 6th
Lehkonen - 3rd
Anderson - 2nd

But I could be wrong.
