Manson hasn't been good for 3 years. Even this year his advance stats haven't been very good. Better than the past couple of years but generally below average. Holl has been better and he was really good last night. Manson wouldn't have made a difference. TO would have dominated him as well. Lindholm is your best defenceman and every Leaf line completely dominated the run of play. Holl was part of that and was very noticeable.

I’m a leafs fan but can’t stand this. Holl was a healthy scratch this year .. and two years ago he could not even get in the lineup …. No Holl did not help run and dominate the game. Watch the core 4 control the puck .. Holl does nothing and Manson would be an upgrade

Nothing isn't always a bad thing though. Apart from a bad stretch earlier in the season, Holl has been good. Makes smart plays and keeps it clean. I'll take that all the time. Many fools on here want every player to be eye popping awesome. You don't ever have a full team of amazing players. It's a cap era, you need value and a 2 million dollar top 4 defenceman who does well with Muzzin in a shutdown role is terrific. He's so much better than he gets credit for.

Your the guy that keeps saying Mayfield is garbage. Who’s under 2 Mil, plays heavy game and 20+ mins a night. A guy that can actually move a guy out front. A guy who’s not flashy. But yet he’s garbage to you. Your just straight up

Mayfield can't handle the puck. He blocks shots because he gets shot on a pile, he hits because he doesn't have the puck much and he also gets scored on a tonne, been on the ice for a quarter of the Islanders goals against. He's a 3rd pair defenceman on the Islanders. He has zero puck skills and how would that work in a puck possession system? It would take about 4 games for the "we need a big slow pylons stay at home defender" crowd to get furious with him because all he does is dump the puck deep and chip it off the glass. Keefe demands possession and he is one of the worst fits for that system there is. This isn't being a homer, it's understanding how the Leafs play and how players would fit into that. If you want to possess the puck you don't get defenceman who literally never do.

Many like to point to Bogosian as proof that we need a big stay at home hitter but what did he accomplish? He was easily the worst defenceman and player on the team who routinely made plays that lost us possession. But he hits!!!!! Too many video game players on here.

Mayfield is better than Bogosian, Mayfiled plays over 20 mins a night. 3rd most on the Islanders. mayfield is cheaper than 2 Mil.
It has been shown that the system and style does not work in playoffs. Goals are scored in front of the net a lot during playoffs. So you need guys to move them out.
Also if you thinkHoll is a greta possesion D man your CRAZY. Its the skill upfront that does the leg work in the possesion game due to have much skill they have upfront.

I don't care how much he plays on the Islanders, his ice time is inflated due to injuries and he's in a system the prioritizes his very limited skill set. The Leafs system is all about puck possession, the Islanders is all about standing in front of your net and keeping the puck outside. It allows Mayfield to do what he does best and nothing else. Make him move the puck and handle the puck and he's not very good. Too slow and not good with the puck.
