Switch Bourque with Dellandrea and you could potentially have a deal, but if not you can keep Petry.

Nope. Switch Bourque for Mascherin rights and switch the 2nd for a 3rd. That’s the most I would give to take that huge risk.

I think Montreal might be amenable to that. He might not be high end, but he does have a head start on development.

Petry is supposed to be worth a high end prospect + 1st or high end prospect + a pair of 2nd
I went below that

The new GM might want to have that type of return and that’s understandable, but given the contract, age and performance I doubt that Petry will generate that kind of return. Maybe the best would be to tell him to upgrade his play so that he can be traded for a better return in the off season.

I 100% agree, but that’s coming from insiders like LeBrun Seravalli Murphy (not an insider tho) that this season doesn’t mean much for other GMs knowing the situation Jeff is in

Ideally, yes, but the situation isn't ideal. Teams can wait until the situation deteriorates further. Playing better isn't going to change the fact that everyone knows he has to be traded sooner or later.

Ha! Well, that's just living in the past. And even if he did carry such value, he would not to Dallas. That's another idea Habs fans need to let go of.

Man people like you are so frustrating
It is NOT Habs fans ideas but report that comes from insiders
Habs fans never traded Chiarot for a 1st before Friedman brought that up. You never seen Petry to DAL before we heard that DAL would be interested in Petry if they trade Klingberg because he might won’t resign there. Now talks from PIT that Letang (MIGHT) leave so Petry would be an option to replace him (offseason move only)
Not a fan were trading Lehkonen for the value of a 1st RD pick + before Seravalli says there’s a lot of team who are (begging) MTL to let go of Arturri. Friedman reported the St-Louis Blues really wants Chiarot, not us. You weren’t seeing Chiarot to St-Louis before that. So instead of trading these players to random teams, we use the info that we have so the destination is realistic. Wow I didn’t insult you I’m proud

So show us the "insider" who claims Dallas will trade Bourque for Petry. I'd love to see that. Or even that he's worth a 1st + a high end prospect. Where was that floated?

And it's not the team that's the issue. It's the wild asks that those teams would never go along with. Like, okay, the "insiders" say Chiarot would draw a 1st. I think that's nuts, but whatever, they actually did say that. Fast forward a couple days, and suddenly Habs fans are asking for a 1st and 3rd. Then it's a 1st and a 2nd. Then suddenly it's a 1st + a serious top prospect. Then it's a 1st, a top prospect and a 3rd. Now you can act like you don't see this, and like I'm just a party pooper, but then how do you explain the 153 other people saying the same exact thing?

Nuts is nuts, and I had no part in making these nutso asks. Don't shoot the messenger for breaking the news. Or at least shoot them all. A slew of Dallas fans have said the same exact thing about these increasingly wacky returns. So when do you go lecture them? FCOL.

Well, sure. Obviously I am not suggesting that all Habs fans are permanently out to lunch. But frankly, there is a veritable flood of these wacky AGMs (including some from obvious sockpuppet troll accounts). And they only seem to get wackier and wackier. They won't listen to reason, and often respond to entirely valid critiques with petulance and even personal attacks. It's tiring. Folks are worn out by them. Patience has dwindled.

And yes, you're a Habs fan everyone considers to be armed with reason. But dude, expecting Bourque + for Petry is crossing into wacky territory. Cross back over. We need you on our side.

There are a handful of regular posters spitting out inflated values. Then there is the occasional casual post, perhaps picking up on those few, that go way over the top. Most are average to high, not ludicrous.
Of course a fan isn't often going to go below average.

Low to below average is where most non fans take it. Then you have the same issue with a handful of regular commenters that take it to the opposite extreme.

It actually balances out (more or less), but if you're dropping into Habs-centric ACGMs regularly, you're going to see more of one than the other.
It's not too difficult to recognize posters that fall to either extreme and acknowledge that they aren't the best gauge of realism.

I don't want to get into a whole side discussion on the topic, but it's waaaay more than a handful. And "average to high" is being very kind. The absolute deluge of insane Price trades is another hallmark.

But honestly, nobody would care if they'd listen to simple reason and move forward. And with that, I digress.

I’d be good with Masch or Dell and a second. Assuming they take Dobby and Faksa to make salary work
