4 Deals 1 Cup

Created by: JimCarrey

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 25, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Notes:
-Not a fan of addition thru subtraction. example of this I've seen is trade Kerfoot +++ for JT Miller
-While I'd much prefer they acquire a D with term, Quality like Klingberg rarely becomes available.
-A lot of people aren't high on acquiring him bc he's an "offensive defensemen" but he was elite on both sides of the puck during Dallas' cup run. Also I don't think its a good idea to pair Muzzin with anyone who isn't a very good skater.
-With so much depth at LW including both active players and prospects, (Bunting, Kerfoot, Robertson, Knies) I think Amirov is the most expendable prospect. Dallas also seems to always be high on Russians, but the deal is dependant on them liking him a lot.
-I think its important that they acquire another bottom 6 winger with bite or grit or whatever you wanna call it, ideally one that can play centre
While I still like Liljegren and his projection, I don't think he's ready to play regular minutes on a Stanley Cup team (which is the goal, obviously)

I'd want Leafs to replace Amirov with either Liljegren or Robertson but it's certainly an interesting deal from DAL's pov.

You’re not high on Amirov ?

Not as high as those two. Well also it's a personal preference. Would like to see Robertson brothers at the same team, and Liljegren is position wise easily the best option from Leafs, alongside Niemelä.

I had initially put Liljegren in the deal as he would fill a spot that Klingberg left. But it leaves a massive gap at RD for the leafs after this year, and they won't have money to go sign one. Maybe Robertson is the answer then. Would you take Robertson, 2nd and a 3rd?

Leafs certainly don't need Klingberg. Don't need him on the PP. And he's just middling at even strength or PK. Just a waste of Amirov and the first rounder if the Leafs trade for him. The other three deals seem fair value, though Ritchie can be traded in the offseason.

Probably not. I'd want a solid prospect and a first for Klingberg. DAL could add a depth asset like Kiviranta to the exchange if Leafs want (and have the cap for it).

Im sorry if I offend some Leafs fans here, but is this optimism or is this stupidity? I genuinely do not know. Do you really think that this is a cup team? They upgrade from Dermott to Klingberg and instantly become a cup team? That bottom 6 wont produce enough when the time comes for the top 6 to disappear in the playoffs, and unless that dcore is able to produce enough to match what the top 6 does, good luck making it out of the first round. Plus, how will they keep their core together next year? Campbell is guaranteed to get at least 5 mil by now. Campbell will be getting offers from other teams probable ranging from 6-7 mil, and at most, for the Leafs to stay somewhat competent, they would really only be able to give him 5mil, before having to sell off other pieces. I dont think Sandin will be happy staying at league min either. If the Leafs do get out of the first round, they likely wont get far.

Niemela. Either in the deal or as a replacement for Liljegren
