Could they be available

Created by: rgwhite17
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 8, 2022
Published: Feb. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I firmly believe the team needs to do anything necessary to improve but I’m not a fan of rentals this year. It’s tough with so many great teams in the east, I’m sure the other top teams will add, we need to as well.

Not sure on the values for these guys because I’m not sure if they can even be had, but lets give it a go.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Zub, Artem ($1,250,000 retained)
OTT
  1. Dermott, Travis
  2. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
2.
3.
TOR
  1. McCann, Jared ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Probably can’t afford to resign McCann unless other salary is moved but he’s RFA so worst case improves the team now and can be flipped to get picks back at the draft
SEA
  1. Amirov, Rodion
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (TOR)

Ottawa won’t trade zub till next year when they are inevitably out of a playoff spot and zub prices himself out of town

Zub is probably not available right now and definitely not for Toronto. They are in the same division and those kinds of trades are not made for younger players. Older players with no term sure, but not younger players with term

McCann has a 3.8 mil QO so i'm not sure teams will be giving anything up for him at the draft
If you willing to offer everything in the trades above you use it for a chychrun or JT miller type deal not Jerad McCann and Zub

Joey Anderson isn't a sweetener to get the Leafs off the hook for Ritchie. Leafs will be needing ELC Amirov soon, and really LW is fine with the Leafs, so it's really not practical to trade for McCann

$3.8M for a guy who has 19 goals and 30 points in 41 games? 40 goal 60 point pace on a team that’s in the bottom third in goals for. That’s more the type of player you don’t trade, rather than avoid trading for. $3.8M is a solid deal if he’d sign it

More like “if” and he won’t price himself out of ottawa. He’s probably going to get 5-6 years at 4.95 per

Leaf fan realizing McCann is worth trading for?....Again?

Still not over the fact, they lost him in expansion and protected Holl?

(I get it, but its acquiring a guy you cant afford to re-sign, even though hes young, good and reasonably priced)

And the other teams say no in all those deals, theres probably not enough value. Zub for a 1st, Ottawa probably jumps at, but cant see them retaining for 2 years.

McDermott isn;t worth tons in trade, Anderson is worth nothing in trade, Ritchie is a huge negative in trade

He also has 6 off his goals on the PP. 10 of 30pts are from the pp. He is a -10 and 46ish % on the dot and has an 18% shooting with a career shooting % of 10. He would not be an upgrade on what the Leafs already outside of helping the NHL's best PP- He also has arb rights so if he keeps this pace he will cost much more than his QO

Kerfoot for example has 31 pts with one being on the PP. Plays the PK also not good in the dot and makes 3.5 and many consider him to be a cap dump.

McCann would not get PP time here

My point still stands that teams would be giving up assets for McCann at the draft. Perhaps not the Leafs, but McCann has value for certain

If Ottawa were, by some miracle, to move Zub to Toronto with an extra year left on his deal it would certainly cost a lot more than that.

If you genuinely think the sens have a chance to beat out Tampa,Florida,Boston or Toronto next year ur just delusional

The Sens with one more top 6F have a better all around team than most of them. If you think any Atlantic team has a better 3rd line than Paul-Pinto-Brown and White if he plays you’re also delusional. And if you think the Sens D with Chabot, Zub, Sanderson, Thomson and Brannstrom all playing isn’t a million times better than what they’ve iced this year than you’re also delusional. If you don’t think Matt Murray is going to rebound with a decent Defence also you’re delusional . He’s had a .944 in his last 6 starts. If you don’t think the Sens are going shopping this summer you’re also delusional. Pinto was the best thing that happened to this team before he got injured. Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson was an elite 1st line. Batherson was over a PPG , Norris was on pace for 40+ goals and Tkachuk was an almost PPG power forward . Stutzle is going to improve so much with one more good top 6F

Sens have the worst goaltending and worse defense in the entire Atlantic. Brannstom and Thomson are ahl level players. Pinto has played 15 nhl games and has 1 goal Paul will leave in free agency Norris will score 30 if he’s lucky again I’ll bet anything the sens don’t make the playoffs next year. To say the sens are 1 top 6 forward away from competing with the teams I mentioned is laughable. Stuzle is producing very similar to Engvall/spezza who play on the leafs 4th line lol spezza has more goals then stuzle lol and Engvall has 1 less. Sens are actually terrible I’m suprised you still support that poverty franchise

That’s a lot of things that need to go right. Injuries will happen again next year, along with uneven play. Sens have a lot of nice young pieces but trying to compete in this division will not be easy for them. I think they will push closer to a spot next year, but Detroit probably will too. It will be very difficult to push one of Florida, Tampa, Boston or Toronto out. Also no one really cares who has the best 3rd line in the division, not in the regular season anyways, you gotta match hubredeau, Barkov, kuch, point, stamkos, Matthews, Marner, pasta, Marchand, Bergeron before anything.

So to say the sens are one top 6 forward away from being better all around than 3 teams that are all playing at a normal presidents trophy pace (plus Boston who seems to never go away) is a very bold statement.

Let’s take Boston for example. Their LD and goaltending is a weakness , we’ll see if they can address it. Along with no 2C and an aging core. Anything can happen

Been hoping Boston would fall off for about 6 years now. Wouldn’t count on it.

Boston has Marchand, pasta, mcavoy and Bergeron all better than anyone on the sens. Ur paying Murray, white and Zaitzev 15 plus million dollars and they are all replaceable with players making 750k

And Edmonton has McDavid , Draisaitl, Nuge , Poolparty and Nurse. And Toronto has Rielly, Matthews, Marner , Tavares and Nylander . Doesn’t mean much when you have flaws . Edmonton isn’t good and Toronto hasn’t won a playoff round
