Description
I think 3 of the trades here are not out of the realm of possibility. I think you can guess the one that is a bit out there. With this one trade I really wanted to see if it was possible to make the cap work around it and it sorta does. It would require the guys who become RFAs within the next 2 years to take a very team friendly bridge deal. With a guarantee that they would be paid when it’s over.

I think Fiala deal is about what his value is at I know he thinks he is worth way more. But we all saw how he was playing before Boldy entered the picture. But with Zuccarello getting 6, Taylor at 6 and a number of solid players around the 6 number I think that is where it will roughly be. He could though easily price himself out of Minnesota.

Kaapo might be more expensive, but I don’t think he gets much about 2. Right now it is more then the contract that Saros signed before the ‘18 season, but not drastically.

Finally what do you think of the Hertl trade if the Wild pull the trigger? Is this roughly what you think they would have to give up to get him. Or is this an overpayment or underpayment. I tried to use the Eichel trade as a guide. But thought two high prospects and the picks were more what the Sharks were looking for if they would finally embrace the rebuild. There would need to be a plan for a long term extension, because no way I would give this all up for a rental.

This is one of my more out there mocks. But it is fun, and I wouldn’t say never in a million years.

  1. 2022 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
This could help sure you their net, while they are having their young players develop in the minors. I think a 3rd is about right for Talbot. Their is a possibility for it being a conditional 2nd in ‘24. Based on how Talbot performs.
2.
MIN
  1. Martino, Ayrton [Reserve List]
  2. Stankoven, Logan
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
If Klingberg leaves like it looks like he will if they can’t agree to an extension. There would be a whole on the right side of the their defense. Dumba would be able to fit right in and give them production. The two prospects are solid Stankoven up their in their prospect pool but not their top couple which I know wouldn’t be available in trade talks. Both of these guys would most likely be in the minors for the duration of cap hell years so that would benefit the Wild greatly. I think the 3rd rounder could be conditional and depend on how well Dumba does, if it is points or TOI. Could move up to a second it he does really well. But will most likely remain a 3rd.
3.
MIN
Acquiring Tomas Hertl at the ‘22 Trade Deadline.
(I honestly don’t think it happens, but it’s fun to give it a look.) The Wild would need to have a plan or agreement in place to sign him long term even though Cap Hell is on the way. You don’t give this much up for a rental. I was kinda looking at the Eichel trade here are two top prospects and a 1st and 2nd.

    5. 2023 2nd round pick (MIN)
    4.
    MIN
    1. 2023 4th round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
Not sure if this needs to be Seattle. They are more of a place holder for a team to trade Gaudreau to. In this scenario he is a cap causality. I would prefer to keep Sturm if we could get him for 300 thousand more. If Sturm gets closer to 2 million I don’t think we resign him and keep Gaudreau.

Khunutdinov and 1st gets it done for Hertl. Don't need Lambos or the other picks there

That's quite an overpay for Dumba.

I'd rather keep Stankoven than be in the exact same situation next year with Dumba. Nill doesn't want to give Klingberg a long-term contract. I don't see Dumba wanting any less than a long-term contract following next season either.

With this trade, Dallas is essentially giving up Stankoven (among other pieces) to delay the inevitable. Dallas shouldn't be focused on trading for RD that can plug into their roster right now. If Dallas wants to shore up the right side of their blue line, they either need to use free agency to do it or use trade pieces like Klingberg or Pavelski to go out and get a young RD like Niemela (Toronto), Lundkvist (New York R), etc. A win-now RD does nothing for Dallas, because they don't have a team built to "win now."

If we were to Sign Hertl, my guess would be that we would probably trade Hartman. His value would be sky high and it dosent make sense for us to have Rossi play 4th line. I wonder if Hartman would fetch more of a return than Fiala after this year all things considered, he’s shown he can play C, he can play up and down the lineup and his contract is a steal for the next 2 years. I would also add Mcbain to this roster as a 4th line center and not re-sign Sturm, would create 2.4M in cap room for this year and next.

Overpayment much on the Tomas H trade? Rentals aren't ever going to be worth this much

Even with extensions, trades are still like 1st with top prospect and nothing more. Sam Reinhart trade is proof.

he is playing 2C caliber on a 1.7 mil salary. plus he is your only top 6 caliber RHS, why would you trade him??? with his cap hit and production this year he might be more valuable than Hertl tbh. stand pat bring up the kids and get through the cap hell then start buying

Stankoven is in the top couple. I’d move him for the right player, but Dumba doesn’t fall in that category imho
