Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 10, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I asked him what would be a reasonable offer for Toffoli considering he's been penciled in Calgary lately, here was his answer.
He doesn't think Montreal could get BOTH Zary/Coronato and a 2022 1st.

This is reasonable. Francis was excellent in the Q last year and looked really good at camp this year.

Its zary+ or bust if the flames want toffoli. The havs cant trade him and not get a higher end C or RD prospect abd zary is the obly obe that fits that bill.

i like Stormgren, would like to squeeze maybe Kerins over Francis but

Also think the Habs would probably want just 1 "more quality" prospect rather than 2 good ones

Toffoli doesn't get you Zary. You underrate Francis and Stromgren as prospects. Would Kerins be of interest to you over Francis? He's one of the best player in the OHL

Either works there. Francis was equally as dominant the year prior

Maybe not, but that's why keeping him is a valid option.
It's not the best offer takes him, it's the right offer takes him.
Right now that means a high end C or RD prospect. No reason to settle for less.

This draft is loaded in RD so that’s where you get your RD with the Calgary 1st. And you get your centre by drafting one of Wright, Savoie or Cooley top 3

Not sure what you're getting in the draft until it's your turn to pick. The only way to be certain is to wait until draft day and make that trade on the floor.
If Calgary wants to wait until then, the 1st becomes an option. It's getting him now which should require a prospect Montreal likes.

Then you dont get toffoli. It has nothing to do with the quality of those prospects but needs. We dont need wing prospects.

Both Francis and Kerins play primarily center...

Toffoli's not going to get a significantly better return than Reinhart

Francis has played centre in 13 of 22 games. If he is not a full time centre in junior fat chance he does that in the NHL. He is by prospect standards clearly a winger. Not good enough either he is undersized overager in the Q barely putting up a ppg. He wouldnt be in the habs top 15 prospects he doesnt move the needle.

Stromgren isnt even playing mens hockey he is still in the junior system in sweeden. He wouldnt be in the habs top 5 and potentially not even top 10 prospect atm.

You are vastly overvaluing those 2.

Sam reinhart went for Levi and a first. Levi at the point of trade was worth WAY more than Zary is now. Zary was a late 1st and hasnt done anything since to raise that stock. Levi was team canada starter.

Reinhart may be a bit better of a winger (He is not a centre his career average is less than 3 faceoffs per game) but not by much. Their ppg difference since the start of last season is .06 which is less than 5 points over 82 games. Toffoli actually has had a better goal scoring pace.

They both are UFA in 3 years and both will be in their primes over that span so age doesnt matter much

The gap between zary+1st is much smaller than what you proposed value wise

Bruh you real? Stromgren's been drafted like six months ago .... What do you expect from the guy?

And are you freaking nuts saying that Levi was worth more than Zary simply because he was picked for team Canada? tears of joy Do you even know how many busts like Justin Pogge who brought the gold in 2006 or Nolan Baumgartner that had back to back gold medals are pumped through team Canada? Being part of it in the WJC is nice and a glimpse of hopes for the fans but it doesn't change the value of a player, GM are aware of what they have before the selections are made in December lol. Zary's been slowed down by an injury and learning to play full time center in the pros (Like Poehling with his wrist injury and his transfer from St-Cloud to the AHL) but he's a very good prospect.

@Ledge_And_Dairy Arsenii Sergeev is having crazy numbers in his first USHL year, would you trade him for Logan Mailloux one for one?

Maybe? Still dont think Mailloux should have been drafted at, but thats a topic for a different day. On a value standpoint yes I would.

Also Zary was also on that Team Canada as one of the only 2020 picks
