While you are correct on the trade value for Chiarot, because there’s a shortage of available ufa dmen and six teams are going for it, he will probably fetch a 1st.

certainly possible. Drury's stated he won't trade a 1st for a rental. Obviously Gorton knows the Ranger's system. A 2nd and a prospect he likes is doable.

Canucks pass. If you want Miller with retained salary the offer needs to start with Schnieder and a 1st.

K'Andre Miller & Othmann are seriously high end young/prospect players. Nobody's offering more than them. Including Othmann is killing me but you gotta give to get.

Yes. I'm a huge Chiarot fan. If someone offers a 1st for a 3rd pair dman, Gorton should obviously jump at it. But i think a 2 & a 4 can get it done.

Obviously with Kakko it's all about potential. And he's getting there (but not fast enough for NYC). Only 21. He'll be a player but NYR are entering a solid 4/5 yr window to win. I'll trade futures for present.

Because you acquired a 5m wing JMarch, next year you Could Not afford Chiarot, Strome & Kessel. Replace with Jones, ?&? ? This does not make our current team better and future team, depth, cap & C situation worse.

It is proposals like this that make me miss Benning. The GM just said we want to get rid of cap and you are trading the best player and retaining money

Chiarot is a rental. Wouldn't be brought in to be resigned. Next years 3rd pairing is Jones & Schneider. Kessel is also a rental. If he were to be resigned it would be a low cost 1yr/1M type contact. If Strohme wants to stay he'll need to take a lower aav with an extra yr or two given to him. Next years cap will certainly be tight, even with a possible 1M bump up. But it's workable.
And if you seriously don't think these additions make us a better team, then....

We're getting futures for a player who is going to be commanding maybe 8 mil per after next season. Retaining 2.5 next season is totally fine if it brings us more assets because we can't turn this around that fast.
