Chicago isn’t adding a third here, I don’t think they are interested in Kempny

Dallas passes, Klingberg will get a better return then that. Chicago isn't eating half on MAF and giving up a 3rd and Kempny is a cap dump. Chicago also passes.

Caps aren't trading Sammy for a rental. His ceiling is too high. Still has a bright future.

Realistically speaking, why are the prices so high for a player that isn't performing super well and has a very limited market? Chicago fans are demanding a lot for a guy with a sub-.910 and is a pending UFA at a time when just about every playoff team has their goalie.

Because he's been a lot better than his numbers. He had a horrendous start of the year and plays for maybe the worst defensive team in the league. He's much better than half the playoff teams starters and has the playoff experience, that counts

I'm aware of all that. But there's really no market for Fleury outside of Washington. And for as much as we can say that his numbers would be better on a better defensive team, hypothetical arguments like that don't seem like they'll drive up the price tag. Completely setting aside Samsonov because you want a 1st rounder is absurd when there's quite honestly no other team in the market for him.

He's on a bottom 5 5v5 team in the league, getting basically no goal support. The fact that his save percentage is above 900 and his GAA is under 3 is remarkable. Watch the games if you don't believe me, I don't know if he gets a 1st anymore, but desperate teams may pay up.

Disagree, Samsonov has potential. Would prefer Vanecek and we shouldn't be sending the 3rd, but I do like us getting him.

I completely agree with the logic behind why Fleury's numbers are down and I do think they'll improve in a better situation. The point is that I don't think when there's one team in the market for him Chicago is able to demand a 1st+ for him.

He's about to turn 25, he is what he is at this point. I get that goalie take longer to develop but he doesn't move the needle for me

I think the market is bigger than most would think. Vegas was no where on the radar until the last minute when the Hawks traded them Lehner a few years back

Welp, we're going to need someone to work in tandem with Lank until Commesso gets up here and Soderblom breaks out.

Agreed, but I don't think we're going to be competitive next year, sign a UFA for a year or two to fill in. Or if we decided to try and compete, hold Fleury and resign him

smh people act like they are actually negotiating on here and going to play hardball. stop it. Be objective and value in good faith. Fleury is a a 38 year old pending UFA who the Hawks won't resign. So if they can potentially get a 25 year old number one goalie, who may just need a change of scenery, for a UFA and a 3rd round pick that would be a win.

smh people telling other people what to do. stop it. a backup goalie for the top goalie on the market who said he'd resign with us. and we have to give up a valuable pick. would be a total loss.
