It would be a high price (and some would call it an overpay),
2022 1st (No protection)
Caufield
Chiarot
Lehkonen

But it would look like something like that for me

i made a post about trading away the probable 1st overall, and yet it was still met with backlash from the rags fans. So my guess is he's near well untouchable

The guy is 2020 1st overall pick. It's been barely a year the guy was drafted, and we're already dealing him?

Gonna cost a plenty. Established NHL mid-6 forward at 20 with a potential to become one of the best in his position is going to have a high price.

I wonder if MTL even have the assets to land the guy...assuming Suzuki and that first of theirs are not going to be available.

he's having a meh year .. Not saying to sell on the cheap .. But an offer that would included Caufield + Chiarot (retain50%) + Lekhonen (retain50%) + a late first or early second idk .. You get Caufield , you get player for a good run in Playoffs ..

Sounds like an offer that is reasonable now but might end up as one to regret immensely in the future. I'd keep Laffy for now.

Not at all. But if I were NYR that offer would have to include Habs' first this year, because NYR needs a center prospect and that pick potentially can turn into Shane Wright or Logan Cooley, which would fit their needs quite well.

News flash, you ain't getting all that for Lafreniere! Caufield + 2nd would do it. Both have close to the same PPG averages and Lafreniere has almost double the number of games played. Laf had a higher ceiling but not by much and at this point it's getting lower and lower with each passing season. In 2021 Laf had an PNHLe of 29 (3rd line potential), Caufield this year has a PNHLe of 32 (3rd line potential) according to Dobber Prospects. Neither player has proven very much at the NHL level thus far and Lafreniere has had the better part of two seasons to do it as opposed to Cole who has had 50ish games. Yeah 1 for 1 or Montreal adding a 2nd for the higher ceiling definitely is the price.

Since February of 2021 Laf has the most even strenght goals out of any NYR, more than Zibanejad, Panarin or Kreider. He is tied 3rd for even strenght goals in his first 100 games out of any 1st overall picks the last 15 years. That does not mean he has been a superstar, but it shows that his low point totals are a product of his poorly deployment and TOI. He looks very good on our first line and it feels like a breakout in terms of PPG is about to happen very quickly.

Whatever the trade is, Suzuki, Caufield and our 1st rounder for 2022 and 2023 are completely off limits.

I could see Guhle and the 1st rounder we acquire in trades to be used. Maybe a roster player like Chiarot or Lehkonen.

yea you are not getting that much for Laffy. That first-round pick is gonna be a top 5 or maybe even a top 3 and Caufield is 20 with the potential to be a half-decent top 6 forward. heard rumors that Chariot is worth a first-rounder and Lehkoen is maybe worth a 2nd round pick. Laffy went first overall and he was a comparison to Crosby but so far he's been turning out has a bust only having 34 points in 102 games played.

Thanks first of all . It's too much since Shane Wright could be in that deal .That being said , you have to understand the money part also . NYR will have tough time keeping every assets going forward . So a Lafreniere one on one trade with the 1st ( IF ONE OVERALL) is not completely absurd , since your delaying paying an all-star + Lafreniere have a down year you have to take that into account .

As for the price , i think you change that 1st of MTL for the 1st of Calgary , retain salary on Chiarot and Lekhonen and you have something in the around of the value . My 2 cents.

That is why i said that for some it would be considered an overpay, I do not expect Laffy to get traded for a while (if ever)

It’s gotta include either Suzuki or #1 overall. No way rangers give up laffy for less than that.

I like how all the comments above are saying how much of a bust Laffy has been but absolutely rave about caufield. Laffy is the better all around player and has more potential.

allright , allright we get it , lone child does wanna loan toys , doesn't even entertain the idea of the value of the asset . Will wake up 2 minutes before the boy hit free agency ( not the case yet i'd agree)
