Which prospect though? Canucks fans give different reads on their needs.

Honestly I think Zacha, Walsh, and a 1st may not even be enough for Boeser…

That’s the deal I’d be pretty comfortable making as a NJ fan (thought I’d want some protection on the 1st for 2022 and 2023, no protection for 2024).

As a canucks fan, if we were to trade boeser to the Devils.. I would think the canucks take no less than
A 1st round pick either this year or next year..
    Zacha
    And either bahl or Walsh.

Walsh makes the most sense. RD is the Canucks biggest need, followed by C

If NJ isn't willing to include their '22 1st then I don't think there's a deal to be made.

If NJD really want him, they should be sure he is signed for few years that takes him beyond his UFA year.

By all means do. I would not want my team giving him 7x7m or anything near that. Not many teams could or would in this already capped out league. Which should keep the trade price down somewhat at least...

Ya I'd want a 22 top 5 protected that flips to 23 unprotected.

So our pick, unfortunately, is looking like it will be top-5. So this years 1st is certainly not going to fit. It would have to be lottery-protected 2023 1st that rolls to 2024 I would guess.

Makes sense I just don't know how much interest Canucks would have in a potential 2024 pick as that's a long ways from helping them compete. I also don't see the devil's giving up an unprotected 2023 pick though.

I don’t either. In an ideal world, we would have a second 1st to include in this deal, but I don’t know what expendable pieces would get us a 1st (Subban and Vesey are our two pending UFAs).

I’m just hoping we don’t make a trade with NJD. I like Ty Smith, but we don’t need another offensive defenceman, especially one who plays on the left side, albeit he can play on the right. And the prospects that NJD are way more valuable to them so I can’t really see Boeser coming here. Maybe only Garland-Zacha swap.

Its possible that Garland could return more in a trade because his contract is set. Unless Boeser agrees to extension before the trade.

Ya the Ty Smith stuff makes no sense to me. He's essentially exactly what we already have with Rathbone.

That’s why I didn’t include him. Also, with all lefty centers, you’d want a puck-moving RD, I would think.

My money is still on Walsh being included if a deal is ever done.

I'd love to have McLeod included personally. I like his speed and obviously a bottom 6 right hand center would be nice to have. Walsh would of course make sense too.

I wouldn't want to wait a year (or more) for a 1st. As it stands, I don't think NJ would be willing to give up what it would take to acquire Boeser. Maybe if a 3rd team was involved but I have no idea what that would look like.

McLeod is a face-off machine too. Has really accepted his role this year and thrived with it.

Schnarr and Zetterlund could be options as righty centers too. Schnarr isn’t as fast as McLeod, but better puck skills. Zetterlund probably ends up on wing in NHL. He came to camp 20-25 lbs heavier this year and has been a whole new player…he’s like 5’11” 225 lbs now.

But I was saying RD for lefty centers since it is easier for a center to receive a pass from that side. But I suppose you could add a righty center too.

There was some new news about Canucks interest in Ty Smith. If that’s true, that would probably replace the pick (ie, Zacha and Smith for Boeser). But it seems like a mismatch of sorts.

I agree that Smith is a mismatch for the Canucks. Grade A prospect but not at all what we need.
