Bruins losing R1 no matter what so re-tool now and prep for next year

Created by: kscoop
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 18, 2022
Published: Feb. 18, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bruins will make the playoffs this year but will likely lose in R1 no matter who they might add at the deadline. My approach is to re-tool now and be ready for next season while not sacrificing the future, in fact adding draft picks and cap space to make necessary signings.

Smith doesn't get close to that, and NSH isn't interested anyway.

I like your thought, but with so many cap strapped teams, teams can't afford or even want some of those contracts that have term on them.

Ducks and Coyotes say no and also likely Calgary and Nashville, Bruins say no to both Seattle trades

No matter what huh? Because there’s never been a surprising run before? Kings didn’t win as an 8 seed. Columbus didn’t beat Tampa. Never happens. No matter what. The games played on paper.

Grow up. Turn off the tv if that’s the way you think about the sport. Basketball seems to be a better fit for you.

love this take. look at the canadiens last year, stars year before, vegas had Haula as their 2C and McNabb and Schmidt on their top pair.

Say what you will, but this team's core is still excellent and the rest can absolutely get hot for a run. Worth another shot

Seattle doesn't really have a need for Reilly, so why not give the younger player the shot in lauzon. Arizona and Anaheim probably decline. That package for Chychrun gets beat by other teams. Don't see why Anaheim would go after Coyle and his salary

Grow up!! Loser. Go watch some other teams/games and if you think the Bruins are beating the Canes/Fla/TB your knowledge of hockey is lost. Also, you are very quick to call people out around here. Put it down fella.

Where did i say i think the bruins are beating the canes, florida, or tampa.

Your outlook, attitude, and general understanding of variance in hockey stinks.

It happens but I don't see it with this team. Last year Habs completely lucked out but that also happens I guess.

Well, that is who they are likely playing in R1. My attitude? Go look at how you reply to posters on here. You think you know but in reality you haven't watched many NHL games, or out of town teams to realize this Bruins team is just average and with these goalies they aren't stealing a series.

Point is, i didn’t say i think they win. They certainly can though. That’s the nice thing about hockey. It’s played on ice, not paper.

Haula's not getting back a 2nd with that hit and his "production".

Seattle probably takes that deal to get the 2nd rounder but I don't see why Boston offers that in the first place - they thought Lauzon was fine to leave unprotected 8 months ago, but now think he's worth a 2nd rounder + a roster player? (Reilly's contract isn't so onerous that it needs to be moved.)

Comtois is 6 years younger and makes $3M less per year than Coyle - so first off, why is Anaheim the one sending picks in this deal? To be honest, there's no real need for them to make this trade anyways - if they want veteran leadership to make a playoff run next season there will be plenty available in UFA (just from Centers: Derek Stepan, Nic Paul, Chris Tierney, Ryan Strome, and VIncent Trocheck should all clock in at/not egregiously above $5M AAV this summer)
