Make the 2nd a 1st, and add Amirov to the Gavvy trade.

You’re getting Gavvy, with retention, and moving Holl’s contract. He’s a fine depth D, but where CBJ are in their rebuild, they don’t really need him. More or less just a more expensive replacement for Gavvy.

It's a valuable package for Connor Brown but still hope they just extend him

If the sad reality is they'll have to trade him, then I'd really consider this package

I think this is the first Leafs Brown trade that isnt a serious lowball.

Dermott is a decent defenceman but I dont think Ottawa would be overly interested given the fact that they have Chabot, Sanderson, Brannstrom and Holden all going for them next year on the left side. Engvall is an okay piece but is another player Ottawa likely doesnt value as much as Toronto given how many bottom 6 left shot forwards are already on the team. SDA is a B or C prospect who may never make the jump to the NHL.

Not sure if Melnyk would okay two years of retention but the 1st this year and Abruzzese are definitely holding the deal together. Both really good pieces that would get Ottawa's attention.

Oh my… u guys don’t know the value/how good Niemela is going to be. He could be playing as early as next year and is going to be a legit stud. I thought I was overpaying with the 2nd tbh

Only one I thought was an overpay was the Gavrikov trade… but a lot of people seem to be overly high on him so that’s why I added the 2nd.

Every AGM on here that trades for gavrikov on here you'll see comments discussing what he means to the jackets, their young guys, elvis, and the locker room. you aren't buying the player's value on the ice, you are paying a premium to get the jackets to part with that aspect of him.

I don't see San Jose wanting to move him. He's a classic example of someone who had some skills but couldn't force his way higher up the lineup in TO. I am happy he found a home.

We just moved Ritchie for two decent depth players and it cost us only a 2nd in 3 seasons or a 3rd. It's pretty clear the market isn't remotely close to what people think it is.

me too! i really want him to sign with us 4 years 3.25 to 3.85. he has good chemistry with all our top 6 guys and with experience I could see him be a 45-55 point a season guy and maybes hit 65 points and 18-24 goals for a season or two.

what is a solid middle 6 who in his first full season hits 50+ points worth?
i would love to get him for 2.5-3 but i think that’s low, he has shown the skill and work ethic all he needs is a little experience and i feel he is a perfect 2nd line guy and 3rd line guy on stronger teams

I just think he's like a pile of other players who given the right opportunity could flourish but aren't really all that special on their own. Look at a guy like Bunting, is he great? Or is he just in a great opportunity that's inflating his skill level? There are a lot of players who can look pretty amazing next to Matthews and Marner. Barbarov is a good player but take him away from the top players and then what do you have? That's would I think players should be paid for, not what other players do for them.

every team needs supporting cast and obviously not everyone can be supporting cast or ritchie would be on your second line right now,

Maybe, dude does have good counting stats. I'm not familiar enough with the TML farm.

Then again, I mean, you said it yourself, "This team can win it all," so why not give a little more, eh?

Ya Topi Niemela is legit. Played big minutes at the world juniors 2 years ago and one D of the tourney. Continues to improve every year and been putting up great numbers in Liiga. If the leafs don’t trade him at the deadline I’d assume he would come over from Europe and end the season with the Marlies so he can adjust to the NA ice/game.

LOL… When the leafs scouting staff is pulling Matt Knies out of the late 2nd round every pick kept counts.
