I like the moves, except Savard. Just leave him alone

Habs won't trade Savard for that return. Petry will be gone this off season and they will still need bodies for next season

Yes - fair swap to see if a change of scenery helps both guys
No- Varlamov is not the answer
No - Barrie is a great puck mover… if he’s moved the oilers will miss him. Bouchard needs a lot more time before he’s ready for full time
No - want nothing to do with Savard. Not good and don’t need his contract
Yes - soucy is a perfect fit for the oilers, as long as Keith retires. Neimelinen/Broberg will take the bottom pairing LHD next season

I posted something similar earlier but I’m down to take Koskinen and a 4th for greiss. A 4th isn’t worth much but the salary difference is subtle and greiss nor Koskinen will get a lot of games for the wings post deadline as ned is the number one. (Low key he might help us tank a little extra though lmao).

Decent, but maybe take out Bellows & try and get Mayfield instead. And then just dont do the Savard trade.

Agreed Soucy would be great on the Oilers but no way Keith is retiring with one yr left. I think LTIR would be the best we can hope for.

I think if Smith is moved before next yr than Varly would be great to have. Varly/Skinner for next season and then hopefully Skinner can take on the #1 role the next season.

Isles probably pass on that one. I don't think the pieces are necessarily bad, but the Islanders are getting the worse goalie, retaining money, and giving up on an RFA forward in Bellows to get back a B-grade prospect, a 1st that probably lands in the 15-20 range, and next year's 3rd. I think the Isles would want to focus on a guy like Carter Savoie instead of Tullio, and would probably downgrade to a 2/3 combo on the picks to make it happen if Edmonton wanted to swallow it. Otherwise, they're trading a goalie they don't really need to move, an RFA forward making nothing to play at the NHL level, and a pending UFA they can probably get a 3rd from elsewhere with retention.

So you get Griess with essentially no cap hit and another prorated 700,000 in cap relief for a fourth round pick 3 drafts away? This isn't worth the Red Wings time and we're not doing you favors, Take out the 4th and add your 2nd this year and will send you a 4th (we have three).

Detroit would accept conditionally but the pick value depends of draft year.
If the pick is 2022 we would take a 4th. (Edmonton doesn't have one)
If the pick is in 2023 we will take a 3rd. (Most likely scenario)
If the pick is 2024 we will take a 2nd. (Detroit would accept, Edmonton likely not)
The further you push the pick down the road, the value of that pick goes up. A 2024 4th round pick wouldn't produce a player until 10 years from now. Not interested.

Need more if we are taking Koskinen back. Try adding a 23 3rd

I think if that Detroit trade were too happen, would prefer a pick in this draft.

This is a good reference.
Maybe a trade where Detroit retains on Greiss for this year's 2nd rounder and we take Koskinen back and send you a fourth. Or maybe we look more at a prospect who is closer to being ready than a draft pick. Not sure who would be ideal though.

If we retained on Griess and took on Koskinen at full cap hit I'd say the minimum asking price would be a 3rd in this years draft. But since the oilers dont have a 3rd in this years draft, I'd be ok to push that to the 3rd in 2023 but for retaining salary another late round pick , maybe 5th round in this years draft would suffice.

To Edmonton - Griess at 50%
To Detroit - Koskinen, 2022 5th. 2023 3rd.

or

To Edmonton - Griess
To Detroit - Koskinen, 2023 3rd.

Would work for me no problem
