I feel like that return for Boeser is really bad.
DeBrusk for Dickinson could work if Boston is willing to take on his contract.
The Pens pass.. no real value for Kapanen.

He’s pretty good defensively but doesn’t do much offensively He’s a solid 3rd pair guy

I don’t know much about Kap all Ik is that Rutherford and Alvin like him. What would a fair package be?

I think Zub is a solid dman and I really like him.. but comparing him to Boeser? Boeser hasnt been great this season, but hes a 50+ point guy. They could easily get a 1st+.. dont think Zub cracks that return.

I think the Pens would have interest in Miller, Boeser, Garland, but would need to add to all those deals, which depending on what needs to be added, seems unlikely.
Another guy who has been out there is Hoglander, but I am not sure if the Nucks move him yet.

Zub gets a 1st + good prospect easy. A top 4Dman who’s right D and good defensively are very in need.

why does VAN take on Debrusk. What you gonna pay him almost 5mil next year?
no one is trading for him, least of all a non playoff team. Not unless it's to clear cap space and they get something back.

Bruins do not need another 3-4th line center. Trade does not work 1 for 1 for DeBrusk

I'd say he's better than Zaitsev. But there's 3 more years on his contract and he would probably easily get pushed out by the young RDs Ottawa has

i think its north of 4.5m but maybe he would take a bit of a discount aav wise and would want some term instead. I like the idea of it for the sens though, i dont think they trade zub because they have so many unknowns on the blueline still but if they feel like adding sanderson to the mix will make up for losing zub this is the kind of trade i would want them to make

it's almost 5mil, and why would he take a discount?
Pay him or he becomes a FA, that's how that works.
No one is going to get in that mess. If VAN wants him, they just wait till the off season and offer him a deal far less than the QO.

yeah but if he signs the qo its a 1 year deal and if hes bad again hes just completely tanked his value.

and because they can do the same thing even if they make a move for him, if he signs a qo its a 1 year deal and if he sucks again hes just tanked his market value, or he can sign for less money than his qo for longer term and have income security. its not uncommon

did you read?

A, no guys are taking less than their QO. Go head start listing them if you think I'm wrong.
B. why would you pay him almost 5M on a QO? why? what reason does VAN have to do that. When they can just wait, watch him walk out of boston and sign him for less.
It's not like anyone is starting a bidding war on him pushing that UFA price to 5M. That isn't happening.

his qo isint even 4.5 its 4.4 which isint even that absurd so i wouldnt even be shocked if he gets qualified.
and they definitely can sign for less than the qo aav wise if they want to because a qo is not a concrete contractual obligation. If you have an inflated qo relative to your actual value like debrusk signing for slightly less money for more term isint completely out of the question because it fronts you job security and pay security intead of taking the inflated qo on a 1 year deal and risking not getting paid as much past that. I dont really keep track of players' qualifying offers because i dont really care but its not completely insane what im saying here. Im not suggesting he signs for 2.7x3 but taking a bit less than is qo aav for longer is not out of the question

highly doubt BOS QO him. Two years bad numbers, not equal to his QO.
Like I said, go ahead, list the players who signed less than their QO.
You didn't name one, I wonder why that is?

you don't care enough to because there isn't any LOL

That's why agents make contacts that pay out high at the end of the contract so it's pay or they walk.

why does the QO matter? he has to get the QO to have something to sign. if he goes to free agency. its going to be a prove it 1 year deal. because of how poorly hes played with boston. i think debrusk and his agent both know hes not worth the QO nor will he get anything major. a change of scenery either helps his case and he becomes an asset and might get his QO or he sucks and doesnt get a qo and becomes a FA.

You keep bringing up "why would any team give up anything" why would the bruins just give him away? theyre going to use him to get another piece for a playoff run or keep him as that piece if they cant get anything of value. hes still a decent goal scorer. hes playing 3rd line minutes and is 6th in goals on the team with 9. and has no pp time. Honestly i think Debrusk has done pretty decent this year, he doesnt have the assist totals but first 20ish games he played with haula and foligno who have a combined 6 goals now.

why does the QO matter? Does that question even really deserve an answer.
But sure thing there, go ask Heinen why a QO matters.
