Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 22, 2022
Published: Feb. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
What if Muzzin were to be out the rest of the regular season? LTIR could be the way to go. I know, I know, you’ll hear the whole “Toronto Maple LIGHTNING” sort of thing by abusing LTIR, but it isn’t illegal YET (it’ll change this off-season, mark my words). This can give Toronto a lot more cap space to go all in this year. These moves aren’t realistic, but they could be a possibility

P.S. Taxi Squad is some depth call-up options

Red Wings decline. There's no reason to trade Fabbri.

Simplify the Dallas trade. Klingberg for 2022 1st, Robertson, and Holl. None of that other stuff has enough value for the Stars to trade away Holtby. Bishop will remain on LTIR, so his contract is a non-factor for the Stars.

I agree. A 2nd is about right but it would have to be much closer to the start of the round. I doubt Toronto would do this especially since Detroit just resigned him to 3yrs at $4M.

Yeah Fabbri isn't getting moved, He just signed a new 3 x $4,000,000 contract a few months ago. And try more like 2 2nds for Fabbri one isn't going to cut it.

I think value is there for Chiarot but I think the Habs are going to push for a 1st round pick from a team around the league. I have a feeling someone will pay that price.

Montreal passes we have no need/use for Dermott. I don't know a lot about Amirov but Montreal's need is more at RD and C. The 2nd isn't enough to convince them to both take Dermott and move Chiarot for Amirov.

BTW, the ask is reportedly a 1st + good prospect (I don't agree with this just saying what the reports are) I feel like anything above a 1st or NHL ready RD prospect with top 4 potential is just icing on the cake.

Chiarot to Toronto most likely involves Niemela

Isles say yes if only for the sake of bringing a good Long Island boy home (and getting something for Big Z)

agreed, if Habs get Holl or Dermott, they are purely cap dumps.

Well that Montreal trade can be deleted now. Since Dermott and a 2nd are not enough an no one is trading for Amirov at this point since he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I feel for the guy, just having been drafted and now his whole future could be in jeopardy not just his hockey career.

Agree that a late 1st or early 2nd (25th - 35th range) is about fair value for Fabbri but trading for that draft pick doesn't help Detroit's rebuild. It just prolongs it.
