If you're not offering Boeser significant term, he has no incentive to accept a deal at that cap hit. He can sign a 1 year deal at $7.5M and be a UFA next summer.

So 1 year or 4+ years at $7.5M, or 2-3 years for $8M+.

Boeser is 2 years away from UFA. His first season he only played 9 games so it did not count as an acrued year to UFA status.

This contract would walk him right to UFA and honestly is probably the worst contract the Canucks could do

He was 20 years old when he signed his ELC. Since he went NCAA and didn't play in the NHL until he was 20, the ELC slide doesn't apply to him and the 2016-17 season counts towards his 7 years.

Vancouver needs to be a better defensive team..

first and foremost there’s no incentive for Ottawa to do that, they’ll sit and develop Brannstrom in contentment or else on paper it’s Myers for Stone😭.. yeah no.

And secondly, this goes back to the main point.. don’t get me wrong, Brannstrom and Lundkvist are talented.. but having 4 soft defensemen under 6 feet in your top 6 isn’t gonna help you win playoffs games.. sorry. Oh and especially w OEL added to that😂.

Cap friendly says you have to have played 40 games to accrue a season towards UFA status. It does not mention age.
