To be fair, I think ristolainen needed a fresh start and out of buffalo. There is a lot of upside to him but RD just doesn't seem like a pressing need for Calgary

I wouldn't mind signing Risto for dirt cheap in the offseason for the 3rd pair if he just wants playoffs. Sutter could probably teach him how to play hockey correctly.

Unless that comes with a pretty decent extension, Ristolainen isn't worth Hanifin and Dude that's major overpayment and then getting rid of Hanifin is crazy..

Hanifin is a top pairing dman, one that I hate we gave up, and Dube is a really solid prospect that I think has graduated. Risto is pretty much a bottom pairing dman who hits and doesn’t do anything else. He is essentially a softer Zadorov, and while a pairing of Zadorov and Risto would be fun to watch as a 3rd pairing, it would be a big turnstile.
