Couple of trades

Description
I don't think Dallas has plans of selling assets this deadline, but they might buy an asset to bolster their offense.

Come the offseason, I think out of our pending UFAs we're only going to re-sign Pavelski (and maybe Kessel too assuming we acquire him near the TDL), as he has such a good chemistry with Robertson and Hintz. We might bring in some UFAs too.

Detroit declines. We have no replacement for Hronek and can't trade him without one coming back.

I love the look of harley and a 1st on top of it value wise idk how you turn that down. Its just we're loaded with ld prospects. It would depend where that 1st ends up and if there's someone yzerman really wants at that spot.

Ok but there is a 2nd going back and there is a much bigger demand for RHDs than LHDs. Damiani is a middle 6 center at best and with Suter, Veleno and Rasmussen there isn't really a need for him.

You haven't sent a ton of value for Hronek since you have a second going back. Swap Damiani with Bourque or Stankoven and that might work.

Not a chance DAL includes two of their top prospects and a first in exchange to Hronek and a low 2nd.

Harley is already NHL ready. There's plenty of value going Detroit's way here.

I'd do it for Johnston and a 2023 2nd with nothing but Hronek going the other way. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense for Detroit. Creating a hole on one side just to fill a temporary need on the other isn't very smart. We have several lefties that are almost ready.

Nah, at that point it's just not worth it. We'd be better off keeping our prospects.

We have some of the best LD prospects on the league. Harley is nice but swap him then for one of the ones I mentioned. The value might be alright but it doesn't really fill a need for Detroit so pass otherwise.

I've made this trade a bunch with it being Bourque and a second for Hronek, I think that's pretty good value for both teams.

Yeah I figured. But if Nill wants Hronek; he'll have to pay through the nose. I mean this is Steve Yzerman we're talking about not Peter Chiarelli.

Bourque+2nd for Hronek might be worth considering honestly.

At least it's considerably better than Bourque+2nd for Petry I've been hearing from Habs fans.

The only way we move Hronek is for a good young centre. I would want Johnston but I know with the way he's playing that he's untouchable. Trading Hronek would also mean that Detroit would have to trade for Petry to fill that hole, that would also depend what they want for him.

I was actually thinking Harley was Hanley in my early morning brain when I mentioned my original comments.

Not about fleecing it's about need. We don't need Harley. And Bourque and Stankoven are too small.

Doesn't DET need a NHL ready LHD though? Harley would fit that bill, he's already getting minutes in Dallas.

Yes but we need veterans. We have a deep pipeline in that position right now with Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder, Buium, Viro, Sebrango, McIsaac. The hole it would make on the right side isn't really worth it since we will have those spots filled within the next two years.

We have four lefties that are ready or almost ready to push for a spot (Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder and Sebrango). We need 2 place holders for next year after Staal is resigned. Unless, of course, one of the aforementioned LD's grabs a spot. Like I said it just doesn't make sense for us unless we're filling our void at center. Trades like this are going to hurt for both teams.

No your right we have enough ld prospects and that's makes harley redundant and its not a practical trade for us. I just like him as a prospect a whole bunch.

Lol, I don't hate the Petry to Detroit idea. I think he's actually better than this season. I also think he would be a great partner for Edvinsson. My ideal defence of Hronek was traded would be Seider - Martinez, Edvinsson - Petry, Staal - Lindstrom. That said with the season Petry is having, his contract and age plus the fact he wants out, I don't give up alot for him. I only year Hronek if we get a 1/2C out of the deal. Or a massive overpay.

Yeah I don't mind Petry (although he's sort of pouted his way out of two franchises now) but if you factor in the ridiculous price Habs fans are asking and the boat anchor contract I would definitely steer clear. Also, I'm not sure Petry is the best fit across from Edvinsson. Simon's a bit of a gambler like Seider (which I love). I think if he makes the Wings next year; they need to find a stay at home guy. I think Lindstrom would be fine.

I'm definitely not opposed to the defence looking like this either
    Martinez or whoever - Seider
    Staal - Hronek
    Edvinsson - Lindstrom
