News on Byram seems positive so the idea is for Byram to return by the playoffs to bump Kulak and Murray down a notch. Note that this is a 24 man roster if no one is on IR. If Byram is back or no one is on IR then just skip Kulak or trade a depth guy to make room.

Good enough to get Arvidsson… I believe he’s a better player also 😊

Assuming all this went down I would rather see a Nichushkin Copp Lehkonen shut down line as the 3rd line able to match them against any line they wanted.

Yeah, I think I'd agree with you on that. There would be the option of balancing scoring a bit like I did in this AGM, but a line like that would do wonders for this Avs team, especially on home ice. You'd probably have to separate the top line though so as to not leave the 2nd line too weak defensively, and that would in turn make the 1st line a bit weaker defensively. That trade-off would probably be worth it if you can keep up the line matching to eliminate the opponents top line and free up our top 2 lines to feast on middle 6 lines.

Burakovsky -- Mackinnon -- Rantanen
Landeskog ------- Kadri ------ Newhook
Nichuskin -------- Copp ------ Lehkonen
Helm/NAK -------- Jost -------- O'Connor

Bednar tends to prefer to go toe-to-toe with the top line vs their top line and roll his lines even on home-ice so I think he'd tend to lean towards balanced lines though.

Yeah he does, but having a shut down line imo allows the game plan to be simpler. It allows guys like MacK Mikko Landy to focus on scoring. Guys like LOC and Jost to just be forechecking terrors.

Ideally we can acquire a shutdown Dman at the deadline as well. Not necessarily a high-end one, but someone you feel more confident rolling out behind a shutdown line than JJ/Murray/EJ. Girard is actually underrated defensively but it's hard to put him in tough matchups when he's flanked by JJ. The fact that Lehkonen would have term makes it feasible to do those 3 trades imo.
