Summer Swapping

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2022
Published: Mar. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So i know this isn't likely, but a few trades i wanted to try.
I think the Wild defense is under sized and needs to get more physical. So im trying to adress that here.
I also think Wild need a better center for Kaprizov, so I'm checking in on Nylander, i know he isn't a center, but neither was Hartman and I've heard it speculated many times that Nylander could slide in at center.
Everything else is pretty much explained below.
Fill me in on how far off my trades are, I'm not certain of what other team needs are in the upcoming off-season so this might all be pointless.

Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Nylander, William
Additional Details:
How is the value on this one?
TOR
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. 2022 1st round pick (MIN)
2.
MIN
  1. Dobson, Noah [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Wild need to get bigger on the back end this is a step in that direction.
NYI
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Fiala, Kevin [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Islanders could use more scoring punch. They also get a replacement for Dobson.
3.
MIN
  1. Hill, Adin
Additional Details:
Hill hasn't been great in San Jose, but he is cheaper then Talbot and his contract ends at the same time as Talbot, making room for Wallstedt if he is ready.
SJS
  1. Talbot, Cam
Additional Details:
Talbot is a upgrade over Hill, just costs a bit more.
4.
MIN
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (TBL)
CBJ
  1. Gaudreau, Frédérick
Additional Details:
A bit of a cap dump for the Wild, but he is worth his contract and seems like a guy who would fit in as a 3c in Columbus, but could be any team.
5.
MIN
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (SEA)
SEA
  1. Greenway, Jordan
Additional Details:
I don't really see Billy trading Greenway after giving him a new contract, but i want his cap space at the moment. I'm sure the Kraken could use a player like him but not sure they would want him at this point in their build. Really hoping for a early 2nd for him.

Dobson is untouchable. Fiala would be nice but not at the expense of Noah

Figured it was a dream, but worth a shot. What's the Islanders salary cap situation look like this summer?

So only complain on two: Joel Eriksson ek and foligno sucks without greenway, vice versa. A player who also signed an extension doesn't get traded

Question: is 1mil for Gaudreau worth being traded? He's starting to score and food defensively?

Don't think Noah dobson is worth fiala and calen addison: reasons
(Fiala can bring back a 1st and potentially a c prospect like Gridley?) Then adding calen addison I respectfully think it's too much

Honestly it's fine. Nobody *has* to go this summer but I think Varlamov is a candidate in order to hand the 1A duties to Sorokin and save some money on a backup. Dobson is the only RFA that will get over a couple million (the other is Robin Salo). Clutterbuck and Parise (if brought back) are the notable UFAs but neither will be expensive

If they want to make a shake up, Bailey is another trade possibility. Would allow them to make a big swing at a UFA or separate trade

I don't see the Wild trading a player they just re-signed, Greenway, but i needed cap space and he didn't get any protections, so if the right deal came along i think Billy definitely moves him. As far as Foligno Ek sucking without him, i just think they have great chemistry together i think as soon as they give a guy more than a 2 period trial with that line you might start to see that chemistry develop.
As i stated i think Gaudreau is worth his contract but I'm continuing the youth movement.

EK played maybe his best game of his career last night with Dewar and Duhaime I think EK is fine with other line mates, Foligno would struggle though.

It's just weird because how he didn't have success with kaprizov and Zuccarello and had one last night is very weird. Foligno needs to fund himself. He's been lackluster and playing scared since getting suspended. Some of that is refs target Foligno such as the penalty Buffalo scored on in 1st period.

Ek need linemates who play with a mixture of skill and physicality, Foligno and Greenway are physical but aren’t very skilled, Dewar and Duhaime are both physical and skilled.

At the moment but these are off-season moves and it's been speculated that if the Leafs don't make a deep playoff run then they will need to move one of the big 4. Not sure what leafs will be looking for but i figured I'd start here l. Nylander is the easiest one of the big 4 to move as well.

Ideally no but, who do you move then. Can't see anyone taking all of Tavares's contract, most teams don't have the cap space for Marner, those that do probably don't have the assets to help leafs right now.
Matthews is the absolute last guy Leafs should be moving.
I do agree that Dumba with one year left probably isn't the best idea.

Fiala is great, but #1 RHD like Dobson are incredibly hard to find - it would be very short sighted for the isles to make this trade. There are other ways to add a forward without giving up a player of Dobson’s caliber

Maybe I'm reading the tea leaves too much here, but Dumba's absence may be having a greater effect on the team/locker room than we realize since we're 3-7 without him. I'm definitely growing more open to moving Addison at this point (he also hasn't played the greatest which didn't help). I've also long wanted Nylander on this team, but at this point in his career I think he's a full-time winger and I don't see Toronto moving him. I guess I just don't love that Toronto trade for either team. Willy is a stud, Dumba is incredible for morale.

I do wonder if there's more of a "hockey trade" out there for Fiala. I know we have cap issues, but it would be so fun to see a similar swap to the Laine + Roslovic for Dubois trade last year... Just not sure who the Dubois would be for us.

The Dumba team moral thing is something I've considered, my ultimate conclusion is that ideally once there is a void someone steps up and fills it. No one is currently because Dumba will be back.
You might be right about Willie, but i hadn't seen this trade in a year so i thought i would bring it back.
