Description
Does Copp make sense for the Preds? No idea if the value is close, but I'd like to see a center upgrade from McCarron.

Would be a good pickup. Likely cost like a 2nd + mismash level prospect

We're looking to retain 50% on him to upgrade that 2nd to a 1st from a team tight to the cap. You have lots of capspace so stylistically he would be a great fit, I don't think you'll want to pay the price to get him though. It doesn't make as much sense for the Preds as it does for other teams.

I think Nashville will have a better shot grabbing one of the forwards that have a really high caphit (pavelski) as even with double retention it’s going to be hard for some teams to squeeze them in. Nashville should play the patience game here. There are some good forwards that are supposedly up for trade and with the limited buyers and capspace I think we will be able to snag a good deal

I agree although Pavelski likely isn't moving with the Stars sitting in a playoff spot.

You can add the high caphit players (G, Kessel, Hertl) where most other playoff teams will be fighting it out for Copp 50% retained or Stastney 50% retained because $1.8M is the most they can add.
