The Jets need more back. They should get at least a 2nd for Stastny and at least 2 2nds in value for Dillon because that is what we payed for him in the summer.

Cap matters. Character matters. Minnesota isn't trading for a person like Semyon Varlamov. Easy no especially after we got rid of Parise and suter fir character problems.

The 2nd deal: Minnesota isn't in need of Brenden dillon: his cap alone is a no along with that we have no room for him considering dumba is going nowhere and we have call addison in Iowa. Also take out Adam Beckman and 2nd round pick . Paul stastny is a controversial figure right now and would be distraction in wild lockerroom

Thanks for the Feedback. What if the 2nd was switched to a 1st? Or would more still be needed?

Maybe. I don't really know a lot about Adam Beckman, maybe switch him for a bit better prospect.

You are already getting a top 50 prospect (Beckman), a defensive prospect with 2nd pairing potential who can play both sides (Hunt), a 2nd for Stastny straight up, plus a 4th. It's an overpay as is, Guerin should be fired if he ever considered this.

A top 50 prospect (Beckman) = A late 1st or High 2nd.

A defensive prospect with 2nd pairing potential, who can play both sides = A mid 2nd rounder

A 2nd = Stastny

Apparently we're just throwing in the 4th for free, because we're feeling generous.

But no, you think the Jets should be getting back more.

Uh, huh.

Beckman is a top 50 prospect in the NHL. He has a Middle-six floor, and a Top-six ceiling. He's basically a Boeser 2.0 type of player if he hits on his potential.

Why is Stastny controversial? I don’t keep up with the Jets enough to know. Feel like I missed something.

Cap wouldn't be an issue because the Islanders could retain the ~$1.4M to have Varlamov's cap hit match what you would be paying Talbot next season, if necessary. Wondering about the second part of that statement more, to be honest - name me a more "old school"/character-leaning GM in the league than Lou Lamoriello. Varlamov was literally signed over Robin Lehner a few summers ago specifically because of his Russian background and his ability to be a mentor to Ilya Sorokin once the Islanders finally brought him over from the KHL. Just seems like a stretch for a guy who was signed to be a veteran mentor to a young goalie getting the "character concerns" tag being thrown at him.

He contributed to a group , or the trucker convoy who I am just going to say this: they are same people who said ignorant comments during the George floyd's protest. Stastny had to stand up in front of Canadian media and explain why he did. Imagine him being traded to Minnesota and Minnesota media asking him why he contributed to a group that is specifically a hate one

The domestic violence issue will forever stick with him. I will never get that image and his arrest of my mind: I did my research about him. The cap is absolutely an issue for Minnesota. That suter a n.v d Parise were basically let go for lesser character problems means Guerin can't bring Semyon Varlamov to Minnesota and expect Minnesota's media will just let it go. The media will also run with Guerin doesn't care about this kind of issues considering how they ran with the Pittsburgh lawsuit

LD and LW do nothing for the Jets. There would need to be better RHD and/or RH forward prospects going to Winnipeg.

If you did your full research about him, you'd have seen that prosecutors decided to not move ahead with the case because the alleged victim's story was inconsistent, and that later on when the alleged victim filed a civil suit against him, a jury found in his favor and awarded him damages based on abuse of process. I think anyone in the media trying to make it an issue will have a big problem trying to make their case with that fact sitting out there in the open. No one in the New York media made much noise about it when he signed, for what that's worth to you.

And again - Lou Lamoriello signed him. If you think Lou Lamoriello isn't going to fully vet a player's background for red flags that could become distractions, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not saying that he's perfect (nor is Varlamov), but I'm saying that I think your concerns are unwarranted. By all accounts, since his signing in 2019, Varlamov has been great in the locker room and shouldn't bring any character concerns whatsoever to whatever team is looking to acquire him.

I mean...

It hasn't been great of late.

But that isn't the main issue. It's that the entire team in front of them has been playing like absolute dog**** in front of them the last few weeks.

We're talking early season Chicago under Colliton level bad here.

Yes and no.

It's not as clear cut as that. There's quite a bit more to the story than him simply donating to what he's calling a hate group.

Normally I'd be right there with what @Wildnochance is trying to say. But while I may not agree with everything Stastny is saying, I get what he is in fact trying to say and respect him for his point of view.

I respect what you said. For me as a black person, this group represents a hate group. They choose to denounce people supporting George floyd's protest and accountability for police, but when its comes to covid and other issues, they scream out. I respect you though

I’d be more concerned about the awful Center depth outside of JEE

I wouldn't say it's awful.

Hartman may be having a career year, but he's really solidified himself as a solid middle-six option. Kinda what JEE is. He's kind finally becoming what Hawks fans were hoping he'd be when he was drafted.

Sturm, Bjugstad, Dewar and Duhaime are all solid 4th line options who can take over center duties if they have to.

The only one one really playing out of position is Gaudreau. He's currently playing above his ability between Fiala and Boldy on that 2nd line. Even if they love him. That said, he's actually really solid in a bottom six roll and could thrive there if we could somehow get a better center that could drop him down the lineup some.

Rossi isn't quite ready for the show yet, but at least he's tearing the AHL a new one right now. So if we could get someone to deepen a center depth who's capable in a top six setting, another middle-six option at minimum. We should be good.

Beyond that, I say our biggest issue is the teams not playing any defense right now.

He's certainly having a career year, that's true. He's definitely not a 1C, that's for sure, and he's already come down to earth somewhat. But like I said, he's done enough and what he's doing on the ice is sustainable enough that he is a middle-six pivot even provided potential regression on his part. At least in my opinion.
