Lets just please go 500 next year

Description
If BUF should throw trade capital at anyone, it should be in the vein of Marino. Sadly, there's not many players who fit that same bill. Confident minute-eater with good defense so Dahlin can do his thing.

Otherwise, it's not worth it giving up assets for players, unless we're getting a fleecing gift. We don't need a middle six RW that badly with Quinn around.

If we can't get Bishop and his cap hit to come here, then I think we should just chuck a 6x1 contract at Phil Kessel for the hell of it.

    Additional Details:
@ TDL, Olofsson @50% retained so cap works. PIT gets a firmly second-pairing RHD, so a small downgrade there, but Geno finally has some help on his wing, and a late first. An overpay, but that's what it'd take to wrench away a young talent with term.

Our defense just has to improve if we want to be better.

We could get someone like Ryan Chesley with the FLA pick, who could replace Marino is a couple years, think Jokiharju is a better fit on this team long term than Pysyk, and Olly can just get traded for a pick we can use to increase our odds at getting a good RD.

Definitely going to have to get some cap next year if we are going to have Samuelsson, Power, Quinn, Cozens, Krebs, Peterka all on ELC's

I mean you guys could go Bettman .500. 34-34-14 sounds like a realistic goal for next year

Also BIshop being on LTIR mean you could probably dump a decent cap hit on the Stars in return or you can trade for assets back instead of Future considerations

The Bishop deal is to reach the cap floor, as they're barely at the cap floor with his $5M cap hit only on IR.

Unless they made more moves to bring salary on, sending out any kind of significant salary back to Dallas in that deal would mean they're not cap compliant.

You could take some cap from the Pens in the Marino trade to get a better deal. Maybe take Zucker, kap or Matheson.

Jokiharju is not a 2nd pair d-man by any stretch of the imagination. Guy is straight up horrible and would be a massive downgrade on Marino.

Olofsson isn't exactly a player the Pens would like either. His 5v5 play is not good and he wouldn't make the forward group any better.

The 1st will be no earlier than 30th overall at this rate, so overall it's pretty poor package for Marino

I mean at that point why not just spend around your team and bring in Vets to help guide the kids? Youre just doing Dallas a favour for the sake of it

    Marino would be nice
But including Jokiharju in the trade means we’d STILL need
    TWO RH defensemen
That just doesn’t make sense to do

We’d need to keep Jokiharju AND then add some RD as well
Pysyk is fine for 3rd pair
We need better to pair with Power imo

    Not true at all
But that’s cool- as we shouldn’t trade Jokiharju anyways
