wait, so if buffalo can get multiple top prospects and a first for varlamov but the islanders are giving up their lottery pick to get rid of him so they can do so? how does that work, the isles would just make that deal

Looked up his stats, decent, but not that much better then Dermott or Liljgren, still a pass, and not worth a 2nd round pick let alone SDA.

Why does NY need to dump Varlamov?

Why are we trading Bryson? He’s been fine.

Lastly, I’d rather use our cap space more constructively. Why would we pay a 2nd to eat a 7mil cap hit?

broberg is EXACTLY what the islanders need -- a young, second pair lefty who can move the puck. if the deal was even just straight up varlamov for him, you take that deal immediately. what you have here they would take instantly (because it's a significant overpay)

Everybodys said it but wth is this. You are in essence trading victor olofsson for
NYI 2022 1st (probably 9-12)
NYI 2023 2nd (lets assume a late pick)
EDM 2022 1st (probably 16-19)
Klefbom (LTIR doesnt add anything really)
Bourgault (2021 1st round pick #22)
Broberg (2019 1st round pick #9)
Olofsson is on pace for 44.28 points this season over 82 games.
