nieto probably brings in a late pick like a 5th. i think a 3rd is a bit of a stretch.

Why would the Canes do that? Staal would return quite a bit if he were to be traded, which he wouldn’t be. And he isn’t a cap dump either.

    Boston declines.

Grizz, Reilly, Forbort, Urho, Achan already there and Lohrei not to far off. Bottom pair LD is not a need going into next year.

Rangers accept, though they probably need to flip Reimer in the offseason because they won't be able to afford to spend that much on a backup.

His PK numbers are first rate and Colorado has a pretty bad PK. Nieto also knows most of those guys and he is signed one more year at only 850. Avs bottom six is rough, Niets makes it much better.

I only added Reimer to replace Georgiev and he's a very strong option if Shesterkin we're to get injured in the playoffs or something. He's much better than Georgiev.

There was a post from a Canes fan just today trading Staal. Thought it sounded like a good idea. And this fan had him as a cap dump. Which he is as his numbers suggest. Really hard to argue that he isn't lol

nieto is only a slight upgrade on helm. other than that he's the 12th forward borderline healthy scratch.

You are incorrect. I've stated my reasons and they are all FACTS. Yours are simply opinion based. Not credible.

His offensive production isn’t worth 6mil, but he has also been used more often in the d Zone, and he is still one of the best play drivers in the league. Plus, he brings a lot of leadership and is crucial to our kill. Plus, in that ACGM, the OP was perusing the possibly of trading for and extending Forsberg.

Cool. We can probably find someone better/cheaper in UFA anyways. smile

Hard no from SJ on both the NYR and BOS deals.

A sign-and-trade for Hertl would cost a LOT more than Hertl as a rental, let alone shipping Reimer off too.

Debrusk isn't needed in SJ -- I'd really have Middleton who plays the more valuable position too. It's a 2nd SJ would be looking for.

Gotta ease up on the simple "I am right, you are wrong" posts ma man (I say the friendly bit of advice bc you did the same on my last post), they don't have any benefit. I say this btw fully agreeing with you that Nieto's worth a 3rd and not a 'late 5th' especially because he also has another year at 850k.

ACGM brings out the devil in me. I should stick to Mocks and Sheng Peng's twittersphere.

Yes but that deal is more or less the price of Hertl without Georgiev or Reimer involved. I’d add at least another 2nd or a good prospect if we’re giving them Reimer too.

If NYR agrees then I Joe Will of course take it.

Matt Grzelcyzk is the only one on this group that has any sort of value. Cassidy said it, the D core is soft. You can not win a cup with any of these guys as your top pair LD. You might not even be able to do it with Grezelcyk as your 2nd pair LD. Forbort is the only one with size and he hardly uses it. They’re not giving up DeBrusk for Middleton but they need to bring in some size back there and ship out anybody under 6’ tall

I’ve said for a couple of years now, Grizz is a great 3rd pair d man. But if he’s in the top 3….you need to upgrade.

Yes and he’s the best Defenseman out of those names, so long story short Bostons D corp is weak

Except Middleton is not an upgrade. He’s just a different style of play. B’s could use his physical style. He’s still just a 3rd pair type tho.
