I'd agree. But the problem is this is the NHL, not MLB or the NBA, players aren't traded for and immediately flipped for something else a few short days later. There's some precedent for it, but it only ever happens if at all during either the draft or offseason. It definitely doesn't happen Mid-Season.

Jost has barely played a game for Minnesota and been on the roster less than a week. He's not getting moved until at least the seasons over, if at all.

I'd probably say the best course of action would be to drop Jost entirely, and bump up the pick to either a 3rd this year or a 2nd next year. That should get things done.

Why would Minnesota ever do this? Jost is a controlled asset they just acquired, they're not dealing him for a middling UFA like Copp.

I like this trade but don't see it happening. One, as @RazWild says players being flipped right away is quite rare, and two I don't see McBain signing here. I know his dad played for Jets 1.0, but if he isn't wiling to sign in Minny I don't see Winnipeg as an option.

They would do it cause Copp is the better player and gives them a better shot to win right now. I dont think they would do it though. Maybe Copp plus retention for McBain plus a pick makes sense?
Copp is the ideal add for any contender IMO. Plays all 3 F positions, kills PIM's, is strong defensively and can play up and down the lineup. Ideally he's a 3rd liner and top PKer for a good team

Minnesota isn't a contender though and adding Copp wouldn't make them one.
