What is that MIN trade?... Holl isn't worth anything, nevermind a 1st, 3rd and solid prospect.

Also, from what I've seen with McBain, he wants a roster spot. He isn't signing with MIN because they want him to go to the AHL.

The leafs don’t have Gaudreau anymore but otherwise that’s a pretty good comparison.

Maybe a 1st was too much but Holl isn't as bad as some people make him out to be. He's a solid #4 defenceman (some consistency issues this season) that makes 2M and next. McBain is a going to be a free agent and can sign where ever he wants. I was assuming he'll be signing with his hometown team later on and didn't attach that much value to him.

Holl wouldn't play in Minnesota and would be a call dump. mcBain isn't going to be a free agent. Whichever team he gets traded to, he's signing there. A bunch of teams are willing to give a 2nd round pick and more to Minnesota for him.
