My opinion is Ottawa should keep their picks and players and just spend wisely on UFAs. They would much better in the long run.

I don’t like UFAs . Imagine paying for Filip Forsberg at 28 years old till 35-36. It’s too much for me. At least once you re-sign Debrincat longterm next year, you’ll get him from age 25 to 33

Nice offer, I would rather have the hawks keep DeBrincat but it certainly isn’t the worst I’ve seen.

yes, give a team 4 potential core pieces for 10+ years for 1 guy.. OTT passes teams are not in the habit of crippling their farm teams for 1 player. not to mention he will ask north of 9M on his next contract

OTT back loads it and trades him in 4-5 years anyway.

I see your point. But there are so many teams cap strapped, I just don't think there are fewer destinations for UFAs to go to...meaning teams with cap. Gotta think the older UFAs aren't going to be getting those long term contracts either. You could "hide" their salary in later years in a cap rising situation, but not now.
I'd look at players that want to play for Ottawa as UFAs, even if short term, (Giroux), and then the Sens are great position with their young guys going forward
But nice scenario for the Sens with options. Lots of cap, little "bad cap" and lots of young guys and now and the future.

**** would meow meow cat be nice on DET!!! Right handed sniper! What a dream!. Pretty sure CHI accepts, not sure why they wouldn’t. Replacing their missing pick is top priority

I feel Chicago would ask for Edvinsson + Berggren + 1st to start

Well that’s disappointing! I guess we are walking away. Come on Zadina is a left handed meow meow cat in a different dimension! Okay i get it. We ain’t getting big fish by trading Zadina.

I think including him in a package for sure but he won’t be the centrepiece of a Debrincat trade for example

Pretty decent offer. If NJ came to us with an offer of like Holtz and Ty smith with the 2 1st's that beats this, but this isn't terrible. It's fair in fact, just not sure if it wows Davidson enough to get it done

Do I think NJ will do Holtz + Smith and 2 1sts including a top 5 pick? Probably not

I don't think any team is going to make an offer that is enough to get Cat out of Chicago

If they'll really offer that then the hawks are definitely listening

wow I didn't see this ACGM back then but I wouldn't do this at all.

Remove the first round picks... Would you do Greig + Pinto for Caufield?

Caufield might not become as good as DeBrincat but he will score a bunch of goals too

Adding a Top-7 pick and a most likely Top-16 pick on top of it to get the proven player. It's a really HUGE price. Can't remember the last time a NHL player was traded for that much. That's 4 HIGH END pieces, each worth more than the regular "first round pick"

The Karlsson's trade return ended up big because the first round pick (expected late by most, except me!) became a 3rd OA pick.

Even Eichel returned significantly less.
