Well that's false. You're comparing a 40 year old ECHL goalie to a 30 year old NHL 2G.

Allen was traded to the Habs for a 3rd and 7th after having an AMAZING season 2.15gga .927s%. His value has drastically gone down since that point and time...

different situation. st-louis needed to shed cap. same.thing happened with fleury, was acquired for a echl players and tradeded for a second. its the same thing as allen.

Fluerys cap hit was 7million...? Allen had a few teams interested in him and they took the best offer. Hawks got a 2nd maybe even a 1st for Fluery at the deadline. not really the same imo Allen makes less

allen had a 4 million salary back then when he was traded. and even though a few teams were interested, st-louis had no leverage cause they needed to shed cap, same with fleury. all im trying to say is you cant compare the price you bought someone to guess their future price of a trade, because context matter so much. allen price is probably more than what it was even though is stats are worse, because his caphit is lower now and montreal have more leverage than st-louis had. (im not saying he will get a return close to what fleury got if he was traded though).

while i do think it was a bad trade because fleury was mot really needed in minesota, im not sure if it an overpay. at some point if we start to say every trade that happened at the deadline was an overpay, maybe we have a wrong idea about whats the market for certain players. (but minesota and fleury is such a weird thing to me... im just not a big fleury fan in general too...)

I mean it massively does they are known to take chances on goalies then go with known entities so it’s not really a big suprise
Also remeber when he was traded to the habs he had a 4 mil dollar cap hit blues couldn’t afford that on a backup

you mean 3x cup winning MAF who was the most recent VEZ winner? yeah crazy thinking a guy that is one of the best at his position gets a huge return...... mind blowing

teams will likely take a chance at a goalie that has great stats or a younger goalie that shows promise... they wont pay a premium for a guy that has average stats AND IF THEY do it wont be for very much... so again how does this oppose my point at all?

i mean lets say FLuery set the standard for goalies at a 2nd... possible 1st. Allen isnt on the same level as MAF. FA market for goalies is pretty solid. Husso Holtby Kuemper Campbell Fleury Korpisalo (ehh stats)... plus teams like Washington will be looking to move Samsonov NJD might move Blackwood for an upgrade... too much talent / potential for teams to invest in a 30+ back up with average stats.. Habs need a goalie anyway why not keep him? Price is likely done/ if not what leverage do they relaly have? thats 13 million in goal for them

100% agreed! allen is not worth what fleury got and its doesnt make much sense to move allen right now, so if moved, it would ha e to be for a good offer otherwise we keep him. there will also be decent option for many team on the free agent market, so unless team miss out, they will not be knocking on door for allen. but there is a bit of a shortage of good goalies on decent cap hit, so there migh be interest for allen. but i doubt allen get moved unless its next years deadline!

yeah but they had 3 team rumored interested in Allen... they didnt sell low on him they got the best offer on the table for him...He also was viewed as a positive asset at the time. ATM his stats are average and hes in his 30s. FA goalie market is really strong
