Not really interested in Klingberg (a statistically poor defenseman) or Strome (a guy whose point totals are largely a product of playing on a line with Panarin). You're also paying out the ass for them, which will really bite the team in the butt in the future.

I get the point. Just think that if BUF wants to compete and add some quality players it's gonna cost them a pretty penny.

Or we could just allow our rebuild to continue

We're not interested in another left-handed winger when we already have Iafallo, Kempe, Moore and Kaliyev plus a variety of youngsters looking for playing time next season (like Grundstrom, Anderson-Dolan and Turcotte). Our primary targets this off-season should be LDs and RWs.

I can see trading that package for Jack Quinn, though.

is Lev going to play in the NHL next year? just wonder bc that seems like on position they could use a future player... Watch them vs Capitals last night they look like a team that is building something scary. id be excited with the direction of this team. seems real this time

I would imagine he gets 2 full years in the AHL if he signs. He's only played one year of college.

He's really played himself onto our team, and probably taken Sean Walker's place. I'd like to say Fehervary, but that's a stretch. I'd guess a high second, but look what Brett Kulak got (and Durzi is ten times more valuable if only for contract reasons and potential).

It's an option, sure. But some contracts they need to take in / sign, because they don't meet cap minimum otherwise.

Don't think BUF is interested in moving Quinn

I'd say you do this in the 2023-24 off-season and target someone like Ryan Pulock if he makes FA. That would be a fun D-Pair for Dahlin. I don't mind the Strome signing but again i would leave the core we have up from together for another year with Quinn and Peterka added and figure out who fits and where the gaps are.

Pulock has already signed an 8-year deal with NYI, but point taken.

Forgot about that, but yea i don't think the sabres are cup ready next year, maybe they will be though in 23-24. Also have to resign Dahlin and the boys in that 24 off-season

It depends on perspective. If they want to continue that rebuild, then yes. if they want to get better, then they'll look for the better UFAs in the market.

This post was is built on the latter. I'm not disputing that those contracts are overpayments, but I also don't think they're too far from what they'll end up getting.

Isn't their LHD core quite weak?

Think Bryson would make it in their top4.

They have Ferraro and two older players signed for multiple years. Also have good prospects in Hatakka and Kniazev. Knyzhov as well who is like 23, just has been out all year due to an infection after surgery. They don’t need more depth there. They need depth at forward or picks.

Vlasic should be bought out, he sucks. And Simek is basically a 7th D.

I'd rock with Ferraro-Burns, Hatakka/Knyzhov-Karlsson and Bryson-Merkley. Sounds to me much better than what they have now honestly.

Well the rest of this year is nothing. Moving forward it should be Ferraro-Karlsson, Knyzhov-Burns and Simek/Vlasic-Merkley. They really don’t need Bryson. They might hold onto Vlasic for another year to make the buyout better but he certainly needs to go. Simek could as well. I’d rather get picks or forward depth and resign Megna on a league minimum deal and have him with Merkely

In terms of ice hockey, the last time you should've felt any happiness was over a decade ago, so I understand if your perception of happiness is a little twisted.
